Mama Dr. Charles Dunford Chig – 17 years old  GL -- When did Charles leave home?  When he was 15  How long had it been since he saw his mama?  Over 20 years   Rose Describe GL – con- man, practical joker, & don juan/player Who experiences something in the story?  Who stays the same?  5 years older
Apple-Picking/Mowing/Style/At Harvest time  Open your books to page 194 Connect Describe a time when you worked on something and you didn’t see immediate results, but had to wait awhile to see the “fruits of your labor.”  Literary Analysis Tone Imagery Reading strategy- interpret Immersed in Words Chart
After Apple Picking- Robert Frost What is the tone of this poem?  What word is being repeated in the poem?  How does this word set the tone?  Look at the lines and reflect on the speaker’s weariness.  He speaks of work not yet done yet and exhaustion (lines 2-4)
Mowing Identify who or what is whispering and why.  Review and Assess-198 1, 2, 3, and 6
Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.

Reader’s Log-The Apple Tree Open your books to page 204 Connect- Describe a time when you had to wait for something and you were really excited. Were your expectations met?  Background- read the paragraph and write down one sentence that you feel is important. Activity 12- Think Alouds When we read, we often have a “conversation” in our head. Did you ever read something and think, “oh man!” or “that was weird!”?  As we read these Think Alouds, we’re going to practice this reading strategy.  Read page 111 Read about Petra  on page 112-113 See video
Think Aloud Continued Read letter from Kalapet- page 116 As you read, write your thoughts in the margin (you will receive points for this activity) Pair off Read  “Did animals Sense…” (page 117)  Write your names on a note card One person will record their thoughts on the card and “pass a note” to your partner. Your partner will read your note and write a response or add to your thoughts on the article.
Student Transcript Review Look over your transcripts and see how far you’ve come and what classes you need to take.  Sophomore-  5 credits Junior- 10/11 Senior- 16/17
