Week two
- 1. Peek at the Week: Students began the last unit in reading. We worked on the sound of /w/ and the words “was and here”. During activity centers students are practicing syllables and singular/plural words. We reviewed identifying coins and the value for each and began working with time to the hour. We had great conversations talking about things we need to live and things we want. Students began to realize that people need to find a way to earn money to pay for things. Students are doing a great job with reading! We will be testing for the end of year levels very soon! Reading Students are making great strides with their reading and recognize many high frequency words. Please continue to read nightly with your child. Make it pleasant and help them if they get stuck. Model how you figure out word and discuss the book. April 28, 2017 Reminders The weather is warming up and we go outside often. Please have your child wear safe sneaker type shoes for playground running and a light jacket or sweatshirt. At Home Practice To help improve the performance for the last marking period, please work on: coin identification, time to the hour, address, counting by twos to 100 and those pink HF words. Kindergarten Graduation Mark your calendar…Thursday, May 25th at Penn Cambria High School. Special Event If you would like to take your family to enjoy the Garden Bros. Circus at the War Memorial in Johnstown on May 1, there are complimentary tickets in the lobby of the school for free admission for a child accompanied by a paying adult. Please feel free to stop by the school and get your tickets. The shows are at 4:30 and 7:30.
