Introduction to
Data Science
Lab 1
Four reasons why
• Why to love Python …?
1- Its simplicity does not limit your functional possibilities.
• Python is a free and open-source language
• This is a high-level programming
• Python is interpreted
• It has an enormous community
2- Libraries and Frameworks.
• Pandas
• NumPy
• Scikit learn...etc.
3- Jobs and Growth.
4-Swiss army knife of coding.
Jupyter Notebook (For Windows users)
• 3 ways to lunch your first Jupyter Notebook.
• 1- Using Anaconda Navigator:
• Open the application called Anaconda Navigator.
• Click on “Launch” in the Jupyter Notebook box .
• 2-Using Anaconda Prompt:

• and hit the return key.
3- Clicking on the Jupyter Notebook
App (The easiest).
Live Demo
• 1- How to start a Jupyter Notebook.
• 2- import and install necssecary libraries.
• 3- Code cell and markdown.
• 4- Terminal.
• 5- Our first code!
• 6- Explore Colab.
*Jupyter Notebook provides you with an easy-to-use, interactive data science environment across
many programming Languages.
Where to go
• 1-Kaggle:
•Kaggle Competitions.
•2- Explore Notebooks.
•3- Contribute and rank up!
•4- Useful Community.
• 2- Stack Overflow.
• 3- GitHub.
*Kaggle allows users to find and publish data sets, explore and build models in a web-based data-
science environment, work with other data scientists and machine learning engineers, and enter competitions
to solve data science challenges.
