- 1. WEEK 10 (woo!) Once again, sign the roster please
- 2. For Next Week Which conspiracy theories do you most want to discuss? Brainstorming and then a vote for top three (Coming up in the next meetings: philosophy in government, literature, and movies)
- 3. Intelligence What is it? Do skills (like being an athlete or an artist) count as intelligence? Does everyone have intelligence? Is intelligence a gift one is born with or can it be improved with practice? Does the education system in American foster real intelligence? The systems of other countries?
- 4. Anti- Intellectualism Hostility and discrimination against people of higher intelligence or education “Champions of the Common Folk” Intellectuals control the political system yet are detached from society as a whole
- 5. Robots Can a man made machine/computer be conscious? Can it feel? What defines humanity? Can it be imitated? Where is the ethical line in robotics? Where should we stop? In the future, is there a chance of a hollywoodesque robot rebellion? Can it be stopped? Can robots be tried for crimes? Their programmers? Marriages between robots and humans? (Yeah I’m a futurama fan)
- 6. Success What is success? Does society impose these ideals or are they intrinsic? Can you be happy with superficial success? Are goals a good thing or preparing for disappointment?
