- 2. FUNCTIONS: NOUN: To fantasize was his only way out of a dreary life. ADJECTIVE: The students showed a willingness to cooperate. ADVERB: Some people are unable to adjust.

Oral: Identify the verbs and the infinitives in the following sentences. 1.They showed me what ecological reserve to study for the next few days. 2.We must always be ready to defend our environment. 3.We hiked up the mountain to look for new plants. 4.Other people garden to breathe in the fresh air. 5.They were proud to show their support of Mother Earth.

Verbs followed by –ing (gerund): I don’t mind telling you. I suggest meeting her at the office. I enjoy swimming with my friends. Avoid giving unnecessary information.
