What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
    constructing the product

These are the different software programmes I used in the process of
  constructing my product:
  • Photoshop
  • Microsoft Word
  • Powerpoint
  • Publisher
  • Slideshare
  • Blogger
  • Survey Monkey
  • Da Font
  • Google Images
  • Paint
  • Blackboard
  • Youtube
  • Facebook
Photoshop
Photoshop was one of the main software programmes I
used in creating my product as it was what I actually
made my magazine in. I could have used a different
programme (e.g. Microsoft Publisher) but Photoshop
was the best for what I wanted to do. I hadn’t used
Photoshop before making my media product so that
was a slight set back as I had to learn what all the tools
did but I picked it up quite quickly. For example, I ‘cut
out’ an image of the people I featured on the front of
my magazine, and I didn’t know how to do that before.
The tool was called the Magnetic Lasso Tool.
Blogger
Before creating my media product I had never
made/used a blog before. I thought it was good
because it shows what work you’ve done and is a
good way of displaying it. Also it’s easy to get
comments/feedback on your work. The only bad
thing about using a blog was that the particular
site we used didn’t work on my computer at
home, which meant I struggled to keep uploading
posts if I hadn’t managed to do so at college. But
other than that I found it quite useful, but isn’t
vital in the creation of my media product.
Slide Share
• I hadn’t used Slide Share before creating my media product which meant that I had to learn how to copy
the link into my blog. It was a good site to use as my blog would have been extremely boring if it was all
written, so by having powerpoints it made the blog look more professional. However, like Blogger, Slide
Share didn’t work on my computer at home and I sometimes found it very slow at college too which
meant that I often ended up having to upload lots of presentations at once, which meant that some of my
planning is in the wrong place on my blog. From Slide Share I learnt how to upload PowerPoint
    Presentations.
Research=
Planning=
Production=        Hardware
These are the different software products I used
in the process of constructing my product:
  • Camera
  • Computer
  • Memory Stick
  • Memory Card Readers
  • Mobile Phone
Camera
To create my media product I took pictures of my friends pretending to be
pop music artists. I couldn’t have made my media product with out a camera
as the magazine wouldn’t have had any pictures, meaning it wouldn’t really
be a magazine. The only problem I had with the camera (which I had used
before) was that in some photographs the images looked blurred. It was
difficult to fully get used to all the settings but the images came out looking
good. I did have a few problems with getting models to take photo’s of as a
few of my friends were unwilling to have their photo’s taken, which meant I
struggled to capture a male artist but I succeeded in the end.
Computer
It would have been very difficult to make my media product without the use of a
computer. It was used in the planning, research and production stages of my magazine so
it was vital. I used it to go on Photoshop to create my media product, it was used to go
onto Youtube, Facebook, Survey Monkey, etc, to find out research and I used things like
Microsoft word and PowerPoint in the planning stages. The use of a computer benefited
me greatly because, for example, if I hadn’t been able to use survey monkey, I would
have had to go out and find people to ask questions, whilst with survey monkey I was
able to send the link to all my friends and get them to answer it quickly. The use of
computers was very time saving. There are a few limitations of using a computer as
sometimes they are slow and wont work properly but other than that computers were an
extremely important part of creating my media product.
Memory Stick
Because of the computers and soft ware I used in creating my media product I needed a
memory stick to hold my work as the files (Photoshop especially) became too big to store on the
computer. This means that memory sticks were extremely important in the creation of my media
product, although there would be a way to get around not using them. Memory sticks are very
useful as they store much more than computers. They do have problems though as if you forget
your memory stick, you haven't got your work for the day. Also they are prone to corrupting files
which means you can quite easily lose all your work.
