What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this product?
All of the technologies we used helped to create a professional and unique approach to our
magazine spread. Without these specific programmes the magazine wouldn’t be created in
the same way and the final outcome wouldn’t have turned out as strong as it did.

Blogger

Using blogger to begin with seemed confusing and challenging, however as we began to
publish posts to our blog we learnt different way in which we could present the posts, and
how to edit how and where they were presented in the blog. Changing the colour of the text
in the blog made a difference to our work as it make it more presentable and professional,
we could also change the font colour and style depending on how bold or informative the
text was. We learnt how to change the background in the blog so it was relevant to our
theme, we chose a simple black and white concert photo to match the genre and target
audience of our magazine, to make our blog even more readable and approachable we kept
to a black, red and white theme which is the stereotypical colour scheme for a pop
magazine which was our chosen genre. Instead of just adding simple JPEG or PJEN images to
our blog we learnt how to embed images which helped expand the amount of media
sources we were able to involve. Changing documents into images also became useful so
there weren’t blocks of text which could’ve potentially looked baffling to read. Audience
research required YouTube videos being embedded into the blog, learning how to do this
made external sources presentable within the blog, another example of an external
embedded source we used was Prezi, embedding Prezi power points enabled us to show our
work on the blog in a different more interactive manner.

Photoshop

Using Photoshop at first seemed rather daunting however using tutorials and teaching
ourselves how to use particular tools resulted in us being able to extend our outcomes in
more impressive ways. By the end of editing our final product we were able to add drop
shadows and add various effects to our images for a professional and legit outcome, doing
this meant that the audience would find the magazine more professional to look at and
more attractive to the eye. Contrast and brightness was an important effect whilst creating
the final outcomes of out images, doing this and involving the labels meant we could make
particular parts of the face brighter than other parts of the body if it was necessary. Using
layers and the eraser tool allowed a colour splash effect to be given, this was a complicated
process but the final outcome looked professional and of high quality. We wanted to keep a
quirky and edited feel to our pop magazine, this is why we removed the background and
added a false and edited shadow to a background filled layer rather than keeping an
imprecise and somewhat fussy shadow.

Flickr and photo bucker and slide share

These were programmes where we could upload our images o, this meant we could then
easily embed them to our blog making it more interactive and a more approachable way to
viewing our on-going artist research and magazine spreads. Slide share was particular
convenient as we could upload word documents which could then viewed online and
embedded into the blog to viewed straight off of the blog, simple and effective to the
reader.

Illustrator

Illustrator was a brilliant programme to use if we wanted to create our own logos and join
text together, because illustrator uses vectors instead of pixels, the images then converted
into Photoshop wouldn’t be affected in resolution when stretched and adjusted as they’d
been imported from illustrator and converted into a smart object, meaning the resolution
would never change.

Photography

When we took the images for the magazine we realised that using natural light and editing
from them wasn’t as successful as using a flash on the fact, the flash made the brightness of
the fact too high and ruined the quality of the picture, We used a studio with a white
backdrop which meant we could easily edit out the background if need be. We learnt how
to use the camera and change the setting accordingly o the lighting we were in. Positioning
the artist was important to suit the demographic.

Scanner

Using the scanner was helpful to document our journey and show how we developed our
ideas. Scanning images meant we could put our written work straight onto the internet
because sometimes writing things down and brainstorming can be simpler and more
effective than designing and editing on the computer.
