As part of my AS media course I had to create a blog in order to
share my progress during the course and my music magazine.
I had never used Blogger before as it wasn’t something I was
aware of, however as I had to create a blog for both my media
and ICT coursework I learnt how to use the software quite
quickly.
Blogger was quite simple and clear in the way it worked as I
could clearly distinguish between my posts and easily edit them
if I needed to without much hassle. Although at first I struggled
with labelling my blog posts, I soon figured it out and it turned out
to also be simple.
I think Blogger was a good way to show my development of my
music magazine as each part of my progress was displayed in a
clear way for people to see
I had previously used Photoshop briefly in my GCSE
ICT work, however, I had always found it hard to
understand and know how to edit things that look
professional.
Even though when I started I wasn’t very experienced
at Photoshop, I gradually learnt how to use the
different layers to create my music magazine to look
professional.
The fact that I learnt how to add effects and different
colour effects to my magazine shows how much more
advanced I have become since using Photoshop
regularly.
I have never used Indesign before I started producing my
music magazine and didn’t even know what it was used
for.
I struggled most of the way through using Indesign as
Photoshop seemed a lot easier once I had been using it
for a while, so when I had to learn how to use another
piece of software, it was quite confusing.
However, when I got used to how it worked I used it well
in order to curve my text, especially on my double page
spread, around my main image to make it look more
professional and part of one page.
I think Indesign was a useful software to use for my
music magazine as it made it look as professional as a
real magazine.
In order to gain good images for both my
school and music magazine I used a camera so
the images were as clear as possible, rather
than using a mobile phone camera.
I had to also make sure the lighting for each
image highlighted my model in order to make it
stand out more on my magazine. As most of my
images were taken outside, I had to make sure
the sun wasn’t too strong or too dark so it didn’t
reflect on my images.
I had previously used prezi in year 7 in my
ICT work, however I had forgotten how to
use it.
However, once I started using it, it was quite
simple, as I managed to make each
paragraph of information flow and I also
added my final outcomes of my front cover,
contents page and double page spread of
my music magazine to make it flow more in
my evaluation.
I had never heard of Powtoon before doing my AS
media coursework, however, I quickly developed my
confidence and skills in order to create several other
evaluation question using this software.
I liked how most of the transitions and features were
already added to the slides but I could add my touch
to it to make it more relevant to me and my question.
This made my PowerPoints look more professional
and attractive as the Powtoon slideshows are
colourful and eye-catching which made it more
enjoyable to create and read.
I hadn’t used Slideshare before, but it turned
out to be very simple as you downloaded
your ready made PowerPoints onto
Slideshare and then you could add them as
blog posts onto Blogger.
