What I have learnt about technologies
- 1. WHAT HAVE I LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
- 2. INTRODUCTION Each different technology has made making The Killers Identity possible, some technology enhancing what we've filmed in order for us to produce the best opening sequence we possibly can. Due to the time limit and our budget, a lot of technology that would have been useful was unable to us. Such as professional cameras or the very best editing software. However this has only made us appreciate how we can improve our product in other ways, such as the importance of camera angles and editing techniques.
- 3. YOUTUBE YouTube allowed us to carry out much of our personal and group research. For example when we were looking at other opening sequences to get ideas about what to include in ours, or looking for music. YouTube is another form of technology that I had not used that much, although I feel YouTube is a lot more self explanatory and quite user friendly! Therefore, I managed to figure it out myself, uploading any videos we needed for the blog myself, such as our own studio logo. I also figured out how to embed these videos into my blog so that they were visible on there. For me, although a media student, I find using technology very challenging, this is why I'm almost proud that I've managed to figure them all out and am now much more confident!
- 4. USING POWERDIRECTOR For me, this was a very new experience, it was the first time I had used any type of technology like this. I found that at first, I learnt a lot from the rest of the group in how to use the software, as well as my teachers. This, in a way meant that this process was even more valuable for me than if I had already known how to use everything. In our group, we made sure that we all had a chance to use the software, meaning that we all felt comfortable using it. I feel like its been quite a journey, however I'm pleased that I would now feel fully confident in producing and editing my own short opening sequence. It can be quite overwhelming using this kind of software because it can do so much and one click on the wrong button can ruin your production.
- 5. CAMERA AND TRIPOD Using the camera and tripod was another challenge I had to overcome, again we all had equal opportunities at filming and using this equipment. We used one of our handheld camera, which we all got used to pretty quickly. The camera gave us a good quality film and allowed us to produce our opening sequence. For all of us, this was one of the first times that we had ever used a tripod and for some the camera.
- 6. BLOG SOFTWARE Even getting used to using the blog software was difficult, I had to learn new things such as how to embed a video onto it, how to make a new post etc. However once I had overcome this, the blog has become an excellent way of expressing our ideas and presenting out work effectively. In order for me to present the information on my blog in a variety of interesting ways, I have used different presentation software, such as Prezi, Slide share and PowerPoint. It allows me to present my ideas well and visualise the process and our work. Presentation software
