CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is a program run by the New York City Office of Emergency Management that trains volunteers to assist their communities before, during, and after disasters. Through a 10-week training program, CERT members learn basic response skills like fire safety, search and rescue, medical operations, and traffic control to support first responders. When not responding to emergencies, CERT teams educate the public about preparedness. Central Harlem CERT is looking for new volunteers to help families, friends, and neighbors. Interested individuals can contact the team's leadership for more information.
