Program Objectives The primary objective of the  i leadership program is to prepare high potential individuals to take on entry and intermediate level management positions in the public service.  Within this context,  i leadership’s overarching program objectives are to: Enhance participants’  leadership competencies  and  confidence,  so that they develop a  greater capacity to address the current and future issues facing the public service. Challenge participants’ assumptions and behaviors and introduce  new ways of thinking and doing  in order to expand their abilities as leaders and managers. Provide participants with  practical   skills  and  career-enhancing tools  that they can use immediately in their workplaces.
Program Benefits The  i leadership program is designed to benefit both departments and participants.  Departments:  The program is aligned with the  priorities of the Clerk  in the areas of public service renewal, performance management, retainment of employees, and the engagement of employees. The program can be integrated into existing  departmental talent management programs and leadership development frameworks .  The program fills a gap that exists in the availability of comprehensive leadership development for managers below the EX minus 1 and minus 2 levels. The program  is a valuable  succession planning  tool for developing the next generation of skilled managers.  Participants:   The program equips participants with the  leadership skills  and  confidence  required to successfully lead and take on managerial positions. The program gives participants access to an eclectic network of peers, guests, and experts that fosters a  community of practice  and supports continuous learning.  The program provides participants with learnings that can be  immediately applied  to their current jobs.
Program Syllabus i leadership is comprised of five phases of up to  21 days  of learning over a  12 month period .  i leadership  encourages students to complement their in-class learning with  outside of the classroom experiences  (i.e., shadowing an experienced public servant, research project on a corporate priority, etc.) in order to deepen their understanding of the issues facing the public service and enrich their portfolio of leadership experiences. i leadership offers a mix of  cutting-edge  and  innovative  learning activities such as, peer coaching, field research projects, simulations, feed-back sessions, group discussions, case studies, and job shadowing assignments.  Three learning threads run through the  i leadership program:  Leading Oneself and Others Leading in Challenging Situations Leading into the Future
 
Application Participants: Participants must currently occupy a position at the EX minus three or EX minus four level.  Participants register for a French or English offering of the program as part of a Cohort (25 participants ). How to Apply: completed application form from the CSPS website: http://www.csps-efpc.gc.ca/dpr/ileadership/index-eng.asp curriculum vitae letter of support from the manager level or above confirming that the candidate has managerial/leadership potential.  Cost to Enroll: The open enrolment fee for ileadership is $9,000,  payable over the two fiscal years. Travel and accommodation costs are not included in the tuition fee.
