Facebook sharing becomes problematic when shared “private” information
becomes subject to employersʼ scrutiny. !

Personal information on social media sites and
online activity can negatively impact a userʼs
employability throughout the hiring process
today, but social media sharing is constantly
evolving as it proliferates. Although we are no
longer in control of what online information
stays hidden, social perception and norms shift
with the new uses and these shifts may
positively transform the way social media
personas and professional reputations
converge. !
