This document describes the author's first encounter with Marshall McLuhan in 1971. During a graduate seminar, McLuhan angrily shouted at a student for asking an "erudite question" that McLuhan felt was a waste of time. The author was shocked by McLuhan's "white rage." The document also discusses some of McLuhan's key ideas, referred to as "think bombs," including "The medium is the message" and that media shape our perceptions without us realizing. It provides context and influences on McLuhan's work, and resources for further exploring his ideas.
