- 2. populist and nationalistic localisation, partisan trade wars and tariff-terrorism; where crony capitalism and oligopoly continues to strain the fabric of trust, fellowship and cohesion at large I posit that: • Causal human experience will triumph over expensive, malleable and fleeting loyalty, which is fatigued and suffers relevance- anxiety • Generation that matter will frequently usurp flow, conjure discourse and redefine choice; in ways unfamiliar to those used to lord over purse, power, thoughts and actions • “Fifth estate” will rule the politico-socio- economic nursery, shifting the game away from the bromidic, despite their intermittent growls, generally ineffective and routinely expensive • Smaller and responsive, warm and humble organizations will rise and flourish • Whilst data with technology will spew unprecedented insights and opportunities, enjoined by remorseless disregard to tenets of privacy, propriety, civics or civility; riding on refresh-overdue legal loopholes, pliant polity and toothless-talkfests; mastery of
- 3. emotions, deep empathy and behavioural- economics will determine successes or failures in the new-paradigm • Global tech giants will face headwinds from the wronged, disfranchised, exploited, displaced and disillusioned; will stare at ruinous liabilities and tauten restrictions; nation states will be reluctant to stand-by stateless globals • Inflation will rise, primarily around essentials and survival needs, in the hunt for rent by light-footed and unapologetic capitalism • Rising polarization will be the cause du jour for the ascent of moral-capitalism • Many developing nations will prematurely fritter-away their promise and potential, vainly giving into fanciful self-worth, aggrandized revisionism and self-concocted entitlement in pursuit of self- aggrandizement and pecking-order maneuvering, giving rise to bouts of economic migration! • Demographic dividend will fast become generational demographic liability, burdening nation states at-large with unprecedented carry and repair costs with indeterminable social risks
- 4. • De-globalization will give way to electorally populist, abrasively nationalistic localization; rise of catchy-phrases and optics in place of ideas, policies, leadership, sweat and service, with hard to dismantle new vote banks • Protectionism will weaken investments, talent and labor flow, trade harmony, growth and overall economic prospects; “world is flat” will soon be a distant memory, subsumed by "byzantine majoritarianism and burly personality politics", just a catchy phrase from a rich and entrepreneurial, having lived its 15 minutes of fame! • Turf war will severely and materially impact services economy, the white collar brigade if you like, after the turns of kleptocracy in resources and slash & burn labor arbitrage in manufacturing... • Overall economic growth will be slower than the last decade, thanks to depleted savings, ballooning sovereign debts, weak public investments, decades of crippling low-wages, constrained consumption and insufferably mortgaged future labor and time of the “fatigued hopefuls”… How can consumption lead growth be imagined amidst unyielding 1%ers and exhausted 99%ers?
