OBJECTIVES OF THE SECOND WEEK
* Use text editing application.
* Use available help functions and its screen.
* Switch between open windows.
* Shut down a non-responding application.
* Shut down the computer using routine method.

* open Microsoft office word and Enter text into a file.
* click the (office) button >> (save) button.
or
* on the Quick Access Toolbar click (save) button.
* if this is the first time the file has been saved , program will
open (save as dialog- box) to know the name , location
where the file save in and type of this file.
* Enter name to this file
and determine its
location and the type
of this file.
* click (save ) button.
To save the file:

* the (Help and support home) button returns to the
main windows (Help and support) screen .
* Use available help functions and its screen.
* (print) opens the print dialog box, to print the current
help screen.
* (Browse Help) opens the contents section of windows
help and support.
* (Ask someone or expand your search) enables you to
get customer support, and other types of help online.
* (Options) opens a drop down menu with additional
help function.
(Back) button to go back (forward) button to go forward

* (search help) field enable you to search for help.

* Switch between open windows.
Close a window: click the (office) button >> (Exit word) button
or click (close ) button of Navigation buttons.
1- Use the taskbar : will display buttons for all your currently
open programs.
2- Use the Ribbon (view) window >> (switich windows) button
>> click the file you wish to view.
* Shut down a non-responding application.
Hold down (Ctrl)+(Alt)+(Delete) keys >>(Task Manager)>> non-
responding application >>(End Task) >> (Close ) button

* Shut down the computer using routine method.
1-select and close each of your currently open windows
2- (Start) button >> (shut down) button .
* Restart the computer using routine method.
1-select and close each of your currently open windows
2- (Start) button >> (Restart) button .

* Files storage devices.
* How files, folders are measured.
* Benefits of backing up data and online file storage.
* Open window to display folder .
* Expand and collapse views of drives, folders.
* Navigate a folder and sub folder.
* Select a file , folder .
* Copy and move file, folder.

* Files storage devices:
Windows 7
Hard disk ,network drive, removable disk ( floppy disk, USB flash drive
or other removable storage device ) and readable and writeable CD or
DVD.
How files, folders are measured:
1 Kilobyte =1024 byte.
1 megabyte =1024 Kilobyte.
1 Gigabyte = 1024 megabyte.
* Benefits of backing up data :
It is very important in case the Original documents are
damaged
* Backups should be :
1- carried out regularly.
2- stored off-site.

2- gives the ability to share files with others.
3- you will see that there are very many sites.
* Benefits of backing up data and online file storage.
(start) button >> (computer ) >> files, folders and drives available
* Open window to display folder .
Computer Window :
Navigation pane [ (Favorites) quick access to locations.
(libraries) a way of viewing selected groups of files and folders.
(Homegroup) enable users of home network to share libraries,
files and printers.
(Computer) list of all the drives and files available to you.
(Network) shows network locations.]
The pane at the bottom of window displays information about
currently selected location (folder name, size, …….etc).
(Preview pane) : to see preview to select file or folder

Expand the locations shown in the navigation pane, to view
any folders and sub-folders contained in each location.
* Expand views of drives, folders.
* Collapse views of drives, folders.
Click the black triangle to the left of your location.
* View folder name, size and type:
On toolbar click (Views) button >> (Details).
Note: you can other views from (Views) button.
* Create folders:
Select location from Navigation pane >> On
toolbar click (New foder) button >> type English
>> press (Enter) key or R.click >> New>>folder
Repeat the same step inside English folder and name form1

* in Navigation pane >>select locate of English folder >> D.Click
(English) folder to see (form1) folder (sub-folder)>> D.Click (form1)

In Address bar click (English) folder to move back to (English) folder or
click (back )button .
Click (forward) button to open (form1) folder
* Navigate a folder and sub folder:
* one Click to select.
* one cilck + (Ctrl ) key to select non-adjacent files or folders.
* one click + (Shift) key to select adjacent files or folders.
*(Ctrl) +(A) keys to select the entire contents of folder.
Or
(organize)button>> (select all)
* Select a file , folder :

* Move files from (module2 )folder to (form1 )folder :
* (organize) button >> (close).
or
* click the (close) button at the top.
* Close the window :
* navigate to the (module2 )folder >> select all the files>>
(organize) button >> (copy) >> navigate to (form1) folder >>
(organize) button >> (paste).
* Copy files from (module2 )folder to (form1 )folder :
* navigate to the (module2 )folder >> select all the files>>
(organize) button >> (cut) >> navigate to (form1) folder >>
(organize) button >> (paste).
