Participants receive and adopt Facilitators send Unconditional Positive Regard (Respect) Behavior   Modeling Genuineness  (Being Real) Empathy (Accurate Understanding)
Social Support Facilitators express empathy for concerns and feelings of participants and encourage coping efforts. Facilitators model and reinforce supportive behaviors.
Self Efficacy Participants believe they have the ability to perform a specific behavior successfully. Participants demonstrate perseverance, increased self-esteem, improved performance in tasks .
Trust Building  Reduces social distance. Offers unconditional positive regard and specific positive feedback. Encourages participants to do the same.
Inoculation Against Setbacks The group, using brainstorming tactics, anticipates participants’ barriers, prepares solution to overcome them and commits to action steps.
