Editor's Notes

  • #2: Sometimes you need to leave this comic up for a little bit before people get it. You may even have to explain it, but people normally like this comic.
  • #4: Know how to dress: The next slide has more information about this. Be familiar with the location: Talk to them about driving there before hand so they know how long to get there, and they don’t have the added stress of finding a new location. Know what type of interview it is: Ask the person who calls to set up an appointment if it will be a group interview, panel, one on one, or another type of interview it is. DO YOUR HOMEWORK: This is the most important step. You could tell them that most of the interview is already decided before you get into the interview.
  • #6: How do you do your homework? These are items one should know as much about as possible before the interview. You could even choose a company access their website and walk them through how to find this information. Firm Find/LMI is a great resource for information about this too. Talk about how you show detect power/action words in the missions and values statements and use them in their interview (marketing message is a good place to put these words in)
  • #7: Some ideas about how to study. Use examples from work or life about how you have used these items to find information out. Some of these resources are linked to facilitate access in order for one to show job seekers how to use them.
  • #8: More resources showing how to study.
  • #9: Briefly touch on the importance of this question. This is a question that they can set themselves apart from the competition. Before this the interview is completely determined by the interviewer. Here is where the job seeker can state whatever information about the company that they have not already covered then ask, “Is there anything else I need to know to be a good employ here?”
