  Workshop 5 : What can we learn from EQUAL ?
ABOUT THE AIM OF 4 INCLUSION

•   What is 4 inclusion ?
    A transnational partnership of agencies working with homeless
    people and trying to bring solutions to labour market exclusion and
    multiple disadvantage.
•   Aims of 4Inclusion ?
    Sharing expertise, learning and good practice across Europe about
    how to support disadvantaged individuals and especially homeless
    people to move (back) into the labour market.
•   Where does 4Inclusion Operate?
    The four Development Partnerships (DPs) involved in 4Inclusion are
    based in Budapest, London, Madrid and Paris.
COMMON OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES


4 themes identified common to each partner's activities :

• Objective 1 - Routes into Activity (lead: Madrid)

• Objective 2 - Routes into the Labour Market (lead: Paris)

• Objective 3 - Multiple Disadvantage and Labour Market Exclusion
  (lead: Budapest)

• Objective 4 - Empowerment and Participation (lead: London):
COMMON LESSONS LEARNT
                                     Overarching Finding
Employability services for homeless individuals should be part of a holistic approach
                                          Key Themes :
1. Routes to activity :
         •    Financing flexible activities at the pre-employment level
         •    Valorising leisure and creative activities (arts, sports)
         •    Creating alternative solutions (social enterprise, supported employment and
              volunteering)


2. Routes into the labour market :
         •    Links with employers
         •    Qualification of social teams (job advisor..)
         •    Looking sustainability of work


3. Multiple disadvantages :
         •    Developing integrated strategies (housing, health, employment)
         •    Addressing the multiplicity of barriers (gender, age, disability, ethnicity, physical or
              mental health, substance abuse, legal status, etc).
