Writing a persuasive introduction
 Your Introduction should follow the format
     below

1. Attention grabbing first sentence.
2. Description of issue
3. Opinion statement.
 Because we want to persuade the reader to change
their opinion, one option for starting a persuasive
    essay is the Imagine Statement

 Example: Imagine that you are stuck in your
room, with piles of notes, books, and assignments
stacked on your desk. There is no way you could
ever finish all this work before the next school day
and still engage in other activities. Students are
overwhelmed with the homework teachers give.
The amount of homework given needs to be less so
that students can focus on other areas of
    adolescent development.
 Imagine statements
 1) put the reader in the writing
 2) provides vivid imagery
 3) is engaging?
 A thesis statement is the controlling point of your
    entire essay.
 Everything you write must support the thesis.
 In the case of persuasive writing, your opinion is your
    thesis.

room, with piles of notes, books, and assignments
