- 4. Change often requires us to give up our old, comfortable habits and ways of doing things. In today’s workshop, you will be able to: (1) describe and differentiate between the two new writing tasks (2) practice with a specific task (3) understand the make-up of the new writing rubric
- 5. Read passages One task requires to choose one main idea and support it with facts (3 paragraphs) Another task requires scholars to compare and contrast (4 paragraphs) Typed and Timed (2 hours) Next Week for Fifth Grade Preparing scholars for the common core
- 6. Development-Content Focus and Organization-Intro., Body, Conclusion; Sequence Language-Transitional Words and Phrases; Vocabulary; Sparking interest Conventions-Grammar and Mechanics
- 7. SET-UP 1. Introduction 2. One Body 3. One conclusion Add-Ins 1. At least one direct quotation 2. Everything supporting it needs to be summarized. 3. Include transitional words or phrases 4. Include a hook sentence for introduction 5. Use citations for referencing
