The Importance Of Fair Trade Merchandise At Hebden Bridge...
In this task I will be examining the interest for and accessibility of Fair trade merchandise in a nearby
retail zone in Hebden Bridge and lime square, I have decided to explore these two places as they are
contradictory Hebden Bridge located in a rural area and Lime Square located in a non rural area.
Firstly, I am going to discuss moral utilization; Ethical consumerism is purchasing things that are
made ethically. For the most part, this implies without mischief to or misuse of people, creatures or the
indigenous habitat, or the exploitation of human (sweatshops) in Ledc countries, it additionally
implies to Positive purchasing and supporting moral items, and organizations that work on standards
and construct to basically bring in light of Benefit for the growth of the world as opposed to self
interest, allowing business self interest only for the continuation of doing general good for the
environment and the primary input workers. It s essential that we start consuming ethical products as
there are more positive benefit socially, environmentally and economically for instance, if we start
consuming ethical stuff we will be decreasing carbon dioxide that is let in the atmosphere
automatically reducing global warming and also stop the use of fossil fuel transportation to send goods
to another country. An economic benefit of fair trade goods is that Ledc worker will be able to get fair
wages, proper working condition, making the country a more infrastructure area, social

Iwo Jima And Okinawa Kiran Klubock
Iwo Jima and Okinawa Kiran Klubock Shukla The battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa were two of the
most important American operations in the Pacific Theatre against the Empire of Japan during World
War Two. The goal of the two operations was to secure strategically important islands close to Japan
to use for bombing campaigns. The battles for Iwo Jima(February March 1945) and Okinawa f(April
June 1945) killed hundreds of thousands of soldiers and civilians and helped to win the war for the
United States. In February of 1944, the U.S. launched Operation Detachment, an effort to seize control
of an important island close to Japan. Iwo Jima could provide a launching point for bombers flying to
the Japanese Home Islands and help to defeat the Japanese. Iwo Jima is an island in the Bonin chain,
situated about 575 miles from Japan. It s prominent feature is Mount Suribachi, a volcanic mountain
on the southern tip of the island. Iwo Jima did not have a civilian population but was well protected by
roughly 23,000 Japanese soldiers in caves, foxholes, and pillboxes (pillboxes were concrete boxes
with small holes for shooting enemies). Before the land invasion, Iwo Jima endured a heavy
bombardment by ships and planes, which, however, did very little to destroy the Japanese resistance.
On February 19th, at 8:30 in the morning, the invasion started. At least 90,000 marines stormed the
volcanic sands of the beachheads with huge casualties. Unable to protect themselves on the open

Fish Respiration Vs. Temperature Lab Report
Fish Respiration vs. Temperature Lab Report
Overview:
The purpose of this experiment was to see how a fish can maintain homeostasis when put through
physiological stress in different temperatures of water. The fish respired less in the water that was 12
degrees and respired the most in the water that was 27 degrees. It s respirations in 20 degree water
were closer to the amount of respirations in the 27 degree water than in the 12 degree water. It is
important to see how organisms acclimate to their environment so that scientists know the limits of the
organism s tolerance range. Scientists want to perform experiments with organisms, but killing them is
not ideal for the purposes.
Introduction: Alternative Hypothesis: If a fish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Too drastic of a change (say, putting the fish into the coldest water right after it had been in the
warmest water) can be harmful and even deadly to the organism. A stable set of internal conditions is
needed for any organism to survive in its environment. Typically, cold blooded animals, or ectotherms,
such as fish and lizards, have a wider range of tolerance in conditions in which they can survive. This
is because, unlike endotherms, their body can adjust to its external environment. In an endotherm
(warm blooded animal), their conditions are determined by their internal environment, not their
external. Because a fish is an ectotherm, it could handle the changes in temperature even though it was
put through physiological stress.

Cyber Threats And Its Impact On The Past Year
Intro In an age of rapidly expanding data and highly skilled threat actors, technological advancements
present the urgent duality of major opportunity and critical risk. A universities data is integral to both,
and a critical asset that differentiates organizations. While it is impractical to completely keep it
locked down and yet open, it is use can threaten the organization s existence. Therefore, the challenge
for IT team security leaders is striking a delicate balance being security aware and remaining business
driven. The human and technological aspects of cyber threats changed dramatically in the past year.
Witnessing innovative techniques blended with the outmoded, resulting in highly evasive attacks.
Recently we have seen sizeable business, corporations, governmental agencies, and banking
institutions, which we perceive as extremely secure, broken into. Vulnerabilities, uncovered by
hackers who in turn exploit them in out of date infrastructure standards and developments such as the
Internet of Things (IoT) have emerged to present an entirely new set of infrastructure challenges.
Hackers continue to develop novel methods to breach the security of the institutions they target. These
methods are increasingly more sophisticated and difficult to detect with the tools and programs
designed to detect attacks and intrusions. In addition, with this increasing amount of threats, fresh
ideas and methods continually develop to prevent further

The Raven Edgar Allan Poe Analysis
The poem The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe can be interpreted in many different ways. In my opinion,
the poem tells of a woman that was very important in his life. The raven in the poem is his
representation of the constant reminder that his lost loved one named Lenore is gone. There is a lot of
evidence that supports this claim throughout the poem that Poe uses. The narrator in The Raven is
grieving the death of a woman named Lenore. However, in the poem, we do not know who Lenore is
to him but we can guess that she had an impact on his life such as that of a mother or girl that he had
deep feelings for. The tone of the poem suggests that he is very depressed that she is gone and is
mourning her death still. At first, when the narrator hears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He needs to let go of the death of her but just like the raven, it is lingering around him causing him
more sorrow. Nevertheless, the bird hangs around him just like his depression about his loss relating
the raven to the death of Lenore, or death in general. When the narrator keeps hearing the raven say,
Nevermore he thinks maybe that this is the only word that the bird knows. Then as he sits and the
raven remains he thinks more and speaks, Other friends have flown before On the morrow he will
leave me, as my hopes have flown before. In this quote, the narrator is referring to his hopes that
maybe one day Lenore will return, but those thoughts have left him which is causing him to feel so
lonely and sad about her death. When the narrator realizes that the raven is not leaving, he then
decides to try and figure out what exactly is the meaning of its appearance and it only speaking the
word nevermore. He concludes that maybe the bird came from an angry owner making the bird sad
like him and causing it to repeat that word. The way the narrator describes the bird in the next lines of
the poem point toward the true meaning of it, he uses terms such as, grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt,
and ominous... (Poe, Line 71). It is at this moment when the narrator s mood darkens even more and
he connects the raven fully to Lenore. The way the bird is looking at him makes him think about the
word nevermore in a

The Chrysalids is a Dark Book by John Wyndham
The Chrysalids by John Wyndham is a dark book where the plot, characters and setting are all
influenced by death. The word Chrysalid is a scientific term which refers to the larva that most insects
pass through before becoming adults. John Wyndham metaphorically compares this definition to the
story by comparing this process to humans. He is saying that the state humans were in before
Tribulation was a baby state and now they are maturing into adults. It does not come at an easy price;
sacrifice and death affect the process of change. The influence of prejudice and bigotry throughout
The Chrysalids leads to death in the lives of Sophie Wender, Aunt Harriet and Joseph Strorm. Firstly,
resulting from prejudice and bigotry Sophie is killed tragically. Since Sophie was born with a mutation
(a sixth toe) the community of Waknuk s views towards Sophie s extra toe force Sophie and her family
to flee to the Fringes. The Fringes is a dry wasteland where all deviations (mutations) are sent to die
upon their discovery. After Sophie and her family fled; the inspector a man who monitors mutations
speaks to David about Sophie s toe, telling David the seriousness of the situation. Not reporting a
human deviation is a very, very serious thing. People go to prison for it. (51). Being pushed to the
Fringes because of prejudice and bigotry brings Sophie one step closer to her own demise.
Consequently, her new life is filled with darkness, starvation and loneliness in which death slowly

Siddhartha Enlightenment Essay
Enlightenment is defined as the understanding and knowledge with the lack of hope and pain. The
idea of enlightenment can be found I different situations that can be connected through the spiritual
awakening of one s self. Siddhartha and the little boy from The Ocean at the End of the Lane are
worlds apart in age, creed, culture and historical era, they are similar in that they are both on a journey
of spiritual awakening.
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, is a novel about a young boy who is trying to find his spiritual

Childhood memories are sometimes covered and obscured beneath the things that come later, like
childhood toys forgotten at the bottom of a crammed adult closet, but they are never lost for good
(Gailman, 5). The young boy in the story returns to his childhood home as an adult and recalls his
memories. As he walks down his lane, the novels protagonist goes from a young man to himself as a
young boy. The young boy shows how a child sees the world around them, while the parents show
how adults see the world. The child s creativity, imaginative, and innocent mind is let loose through
the same situation as the adults from a different perspective. The memories from the neighbor s farm
begin to come back to him and when he sees the pond the smallest memories begin to return. He
recalls that the pond used to be call the ocean by the young girl Lettie. The magic as he recalls began
with his family car and continues to an unknown world in which he brings back an unknowing
monster. The young boys spiritial enlightenment begins as the two children travel through this
unknown world. The enlightenment continues as the different experiences occur throughout the time
that the monster is present. This monster, Ursula, turns into his nanny quickly convinces his family of
her well being on the farm. Ursula begins to create problems for the young boy, by not allowing him

The twists and turns of your life can be so unexpected, and that s a good thing to learn. Whale talk is a
story of a kid named T.J and some of his friends that go through a life of a teenager. In the story Whale

lives by overcoming, forgetting, or learning.
Forgetting is how some people cope with their traumatic events in life. Something that would be hard

The Open Office Project Essay
The Open Office Project (OOP) is part of an open source project called Open Office developed by Sun
Microsystems. The OpenOffice.org project is primarily sponsored by Sun Microsystems, which is the
primary contributor of code to the Project. Our other major corporate contributors include Novell,
RedHat, RedFlag CH2000, IBM, and Google. Additionally, over 450,000 people from nearly every
curve of the globe have joined this Project with the idea of creating the best possible office suite that
all can use (Open Office, 2013). Basically the OPP software mirrors the software suite of products
offered by Microsoft. Open Office Project is very similar to Microsoft Project but dose not offer every

There are other negative sides; Software metrics can be very powerful tools that help achieve your
goals but it is important to use them correctly, as they also have the power to demotivate project teams
and steer development in the wrong direction.
The utilization of OOP for the J. Smith Associates (JSA) furniture equipment project could be useful
with additional training of the OOP software. The JSA furniture equipment project will follow the
Traditional Project Management (TPM) approach. The Linear Project Management Life Cycle Model
is the most appropriate TPM. The project follows scope, plan, launch, monitor control and close
processes and the OOP are well suited for a linear project. With easier access to the project plan via
lap tops or hand held internet access devices the full project plan becomes portable. Changes and
updates through OOP will automatically update other documents affected by these events. The client
or senior management can access project plan at any time to follow the progress of the operation.
The OOP software functions as a scheduler allowing a software user the ability to visualize former,
current and future events. This is very useful tool to follow up with subcontractors to insure their
readiness for their phase of the project. Additional OOP functions can assist with the monitoring and
control of subcontractor s actions.

Systemic Lupus Erythematous
There are many varieties of lupus, but the most common one is Systemic Lupus Erythematous (SLE).
SLE, commonly referred to as lupus, is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease that can affect all
of the organs. There has not been a lot of research on this disease, but much of what is known about
SLE is based on the signaling of the molecular abnormalities that is present in the disease (Signaling).
It is believed that the cause of this disease is genetic, and triggered by unknown environmental
stimulus. Although this disorder can occur in person, it is most commonly found among both African
American men and women, especially women between the ages of fifteen and forty five.
SLE usually targets the heart (coronary vasculitis), lungs (pleuritis), ... Show more content on

The most useful tests detect certain blood antibodies that are commonly found in lupus patients. One
test that has been found extremely useful in detecting lupus is the antinuclear antibody test (ANA).
This test is good because people with lupus often test positive for ANA. Although there are other
diseases out there that test positive for ANA, this test helps in narrowing it down to the least amount
of possibilities as possible. Once the ANA test is positive, there are several blood tests that need to be
completed in order to test for individual types of autoantibodies that are commonly found in people
with lupus. These tests are not used for every SLE cases, but it is helpful when the doctors are
uncertain of the cause of the patient s symptoms. Other lab tests are used to monitor the progress of
the disease once it has been diagnosed

The community prospered and as the city grew and incorporated the Biddleville area, large

Morrison Writing Style
Many themes ran fluently through this book but as far as the style of writing goes Morrison does the
job well by incorporating them all. Even though the setting take place in the north in Ohio (1940s) the
color of your skin is still a factor. Morrison uses the black community as example to expose how racial
conflict occurred without the evolvement of white people. Her characters believed the lighter you are
the closer you are to being white and accepted. Morrison s style also uses the theme ideals opposed to
reality that Hawthorne, Melville, Cather, Fitzgerald, and Twin use. The young girls want to be white

Meet the Simpsons
Over time, the definition of what exactly quot;family quot; means has changed with time. Usually,
what constitutes making up a family is relative to a specific culture, but as always, there are
exceptions to the rule. Ever since the golden age of television had sprung upon American culture,
television has tried to mimic the quot;ideal quot; American family through it s programming. Even as
early as the 1950 s, television producers made programming that would represent what exactly the
ideal American family was.
Take for example the show quot;Leave It to Beaver quot;. While I am not going to go in detail about

Also according to the consensus, the average married couple has approximately 2.6 children per
household (U.S.
Consensus, Household Characteristics p.1). Since there cannot be six tenths of a child, I will round up
to three children, in which the Simpson family has: Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Also, the average
American is a blue collar worker. The father figure, Homer, meets this factor with his job at the
nuclear power plant within his hometown of Springfield. So according to the statistics, the Simpson
family could be considered an average American family.
In the next part of the essay, I will look at each individual character of the Simpson family, and try to
relate how that individual could be considered a typical American. I attempt to avoid using
stereotypes, but nothing is full proof. I will look at some of the character s traits and try to relate how
that is a parody of an American.
First, I will begin with discussing the character of Homer Simpson. As you might know, Homer is the
father figure of the household, whose responsibilities include financially supporting the household,
since he is the household s primary source of income. He has his flaws like any person would, but
somehow he and his family tend to work it out. Some of his mishaps are very similar to those that
most of us have had to face. For example, he leaves the keys in his door to the house quite often (Hall,

Rhetorical Analysis Of How To Tame A Wild Tongue
Blah Blah Blah Title In How to Tame a Wild Tongue, Gloria Anzaldua uses rhetoric and personal
anecdotes to convey and persuade her argument that Latin Americans are forced to relinquish their
cultural heritage, and to conform to white society. The evidence she provides comes in a variety of
platforms, both literal and rhetorical. Rhetorical, being through emotional, logical, and credible
appeals through her text. Literal being explicitly stated, without any further analysis necessary. When
she utilises the modes of appeals, they are subtle within the texts, which leads the reader to analyse as
they read. She conveys ideas of internalised oppression, involuntarily imposed upon to follow strict
social rules, the act of people erasing cultural heritage, as well as the importance of embracing
personal heritage. Throughout her essay, Anzaldua s main structure is unlike the standard structure of
an essay. Her thoughts are organised, and radical, which gives a more personal tone to her essay. This
radical structure is witnessed within the introductory paragraphs, she begins her essay with an
anecdote. The dentist is telling her in an authoritarian tone, we re going to have to control your tongue
, which has a double meaning. One meaning within the anecdote, the dentist is an authority figure and
is implying that her tongue is out of control and that it needs to be in control. The second meaning of
this is that the dentist represents society, and he is cleaning out the

The curiosity of the unknown is a common theme within H.P. Lovecraft s writings. Both The Shadow

knowledge about the unknown. This curiosity and accumulation of knowledge ultimately leads to the
revelation of their true identities. In H.P. Lovecraft s The Shadow of Innsmouth , the remarkably quiet
town of Innsmouth sparked the nameless narrators interest with it s architecture and antiquity. During

The airline restrictions harmed West Africa s already fragile government by hampering the flow of aid

organizations. Unity opens many opportunities for a stronger government as Friedman and Gostin

Unity between all agencies and governments will allow for everyone s voice to be heard. Group
compromise and discussion is possible when all systems are working together for a common goal;
such as, overcoming an epidemic. Forming a strong framework requires accountable leaders to work
constructively with other organizations as equal partners. When organizations unite, leaders are held
responsible for their global practices, motivating action rather than hesitation. Accountable leaders are
essential in a strong government because they take action and motivate change. When a government
has weak leaders, actions are postponed and hesitation causes delays in funding, education, and
volunteers. Civil groups, along with other non governmental organizations, need their opinions heard.
Uniting together all forces, not only creates a stronger, trusting bond between countries, but also
creates an unstoppable fighting force against epidemics. In the article, Gostin and Friedman
acknowledged the contributions a non governmental agency, Médecins Sans Frontiéres, made to help
control the raging epidemic. A representative of Médecins Sans Frontiéres said without accountable
leaders there is no one to take responsibility which is what he claims to be a major issue in the Ebola

Rolling in the Street
Rolling in the Street In May 2013, Major Bloomberg launched a new bicycle program to have an
additional mode of transportation for the citizens and visitors of New York City. The Department of
Transportation chose to have a Public Private Partnership with Alta Bicycle Share over a fully public
operated system in order to have an effective and faster delivery of the project. In addition, Citibank
paid $41 million and Master Card $6 million to be the title sponsors for the bike share program.
Although supporters of the bike sharing program are hopeful Citi Bike will reduce congestion and
boost public health by active transportation, in a big city like New York, only a selected part of the
population will be enjoying the benefits. This paper aims at addressing how public private
partnerships effectively increase the level of production and efficiency, but negatively affect other
important sectors of the economy. Presently, the key stakeholders are the government, the suppliers of
the bikes, the employees, the costumers and the community. Each of these groups contributes in some
way and has their own opinions, views and suggestions for the project. These stakeholders are crucial
for Citi Bike and therefore their interests must be recognized in order to facilitate the development of

APUSH DBQ: Jacksonian Democrats
Andrew Jackson became known as the war hero after the Battle of New Orleans. His victory over the
Indians in the battle helped his public recognition and increased his popularity in society. In the
election of 1820, Andrew Jackson ran for presidency and won with flying colors. Jackson s humble
background gave him an edge over other candidates he was the voice for the common man and
endorsed the idea of national democracy. His years in office was named the Jacksonian era as he
changed the views and ideas of politics forever. Jackson s supporters called themselves the Jacksonian
democrats and viewed themselves as the guardians of the United States Constitution, political
democracy, individual liberty, and equality of economic opportunity. Although this is true to a certain
extent, Jackson advocated what he thought would be beneficial to the common man. Jackson spread
the equality of economic opportunities and remained loyal to the constitution, but fell short when

E Business Activity Based Costing
As discussed above, besides the benefits that e tailers can reap from activity based costing, this system
also brings drawbacks. Those drawbacks cause challenges for e tail corporations in establishing the
system at the beginning. Similar to other manufacturing corporations, e tail businesses should follow
basic steps to implement activity based costing. These steps are (1) Define activities, activity cost
pools, and activity measures, (2) Assign overhead costs to activity cost pools, (3) Calculate activity
rates, (4) Assign overhead costs to cost objects using the activity rates and activity measures. (5)

Furthermore, the goal of acquiring of new customers for an e tail business creates a motivation for
managers to establish sales channels like affiliate sales. This gives rise to the need for building and
maintaining the affiliate relationship to facilitate the integration of information about what is
happening in the affiliates websites into the ERP system of e tailers. In selecting and managing
merchandise inventory, each inventory item must be scanned, described, classified and linked to
search options on the company s website (Article). This requirement leads to a change in the database
whenever inventory items are added or removed from the shelf. IT staff must locate and remove
obsolete and discontinued items from the current database and then annotate and add them to the
backup system to assist in profitability evaluation, forecasting, and making future manufacturing
decisions. The feature of providing diverse selections of products to customers in e tail businesses
makes merchandise inventory selection and management more complex than in brick and mortar
businesses. Moreover, information technology is considered to be the backbone of the virtual
storefront in e tail corporations because almost all activities, especially in pure e tail businesses, are

Analysis Of Stumbling On Happiness By Daniel Gilbert
Known for his research on affective forecasting, the prediction of how the future can affect ones
emotional state, Daniel Gilbert, wrote a book explaining how people tend to have delusions of their
future which often misleads peoples happiness. This Harvard college professor of psychology
published one of the best time selling books, Stumbling on Happiness, arguing that imagination is
what triggers peoples joy. As a social psychologist Gilbert wanted to understand what is it that truly
causes that feeling to come. People continue believing in beliefs that aren t necessary true simply
because people and society can t handle the truth. For instance, if you give up after a failure, you will
never reach your goals. In the final chapter of Stumbling on Happiness, Gilbert addresses how people
who only imagine what will make them happy in the future tend to make poor decisions. He includes

INTRODUCTION
The gender division in the food preparation has an atavistic stigma. Men hunted and acquired meat;
women were preparing meat at home and served it to the family. All primitive communities are
characterised by the subordinate role of woman. Food in Douglas classification theory has been linked
with rituals which adherence prevents the chaos and the social destruction. Deep divide between
gender roles in the patriarchal model of society, became a precondition of social order. Douglas (1971)
This rule still applies to the present society and the kitchen becomes probably the last battlefield of
gender in the western world. In this essay I will present arguments that patriarchal reproduction of

More numerous, disparate, and functionally polymorphous than the SA, the ISA exert power not

Food and cooking play ideological key roles. State and media reproduce the image of a woman

Love Is A Powerful Human Emotion
Love is a powerful human emotion. Everyone will experience love at some point in their life. It is
almost impossible to avoid love. From loving your parents as a baby to loving your first pet, you will
encounter it. Every human being is capable of love but unfortunately, many have crippled themselves
with all kinds of stupid belief systems, opinions, philosophies, ideologies everything except life. If
you are life, it is very natural to love (Sandhguru). The four young lovers in A Midsummer Night s
Dream encountered love and ended up doing anything to keep that love.
In the beginning of A Midsummer Night s Dream Hermia and her father, Egeus, are arguing over who
she should marry. Back in these times a father could decide who his daughter marries whether she
loves the man or not. Hermia has fallen in love with Lysander but her father wants her to marry
Demetrius. The love Hermia feels for Lysander is so strong that she doesn t care what her father
thinks. Hermia and Lysander form a plan to escape Athens and go into the woods where they can love
freely. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, Athens represents the physically grounded world of facts,
while the woods represent the metaphysical world of the poet s imagination (Ritcher). The
consequences of these actions do not even occur to Hermia and Lysander because the power of love
blinds them. Hermia does not realize that she is breaking Athenian law by not wanting to marry the
man her father has chosen for her. But again

Bootstrap Sampling In Cluster Analysis Essay
Bootstrap sampling in cluster analysis is a valuable tool that can be used in bioinformatics as well as
in other areas of research. In bioinformatics, clustering can be used in genetics studies to find clusters
of subjects according to their gene expression levels. We can then see if subjects with the same disease
state or treatment have the same gene profiles, which can give us more information about diseases or
treatments and their relations to genetics.
The Hierarchical Ordered Partitioning and Collapsing Hybrid (HOPACH) clustering algorithm can be
used to identify clusters of data. There is a package in R that corresponds to this method which is built
especially for bioinformatical data. This method works in four steps: ... Show more content on

One question that was asked during the in class discussion, but was never answered was the number of
bootstrap datasets that were used in the HOPACH method. In looking further into this, I found that the
default number of bootstrap samples is 1000. The documentation for this package noted that this
method is computationally expensive, especially as the number of bootstrap samples gets larger.
Something that I would be interested in learning more about is the extent to which the number of
bootstrap samples affects the results of the cluster validation as well as how low you can go in the
number of bootstrap samples while still ensuring a relatively high level of accuracy. Especially for big
data sets I would assume that it is important to minimize the computational time and power used in
analysis, so it would be valuable to have more information on the effects of lowering the number of
bootstrap samples both on computational expense as well as on accuracy.
I am also curious concerning other ways the HOPACH method along with bootstrapping could be
used within the field of bioinformatics. One application, which we touched on a little bit during our
discussion, might be to cluster genes rather than research subjects. I think this would only be practical
after the number of genes of interest had been minimized through other

Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s Essay
Pop Culture in 1960 s and 1990 s
In comparing the sixties and the nineties, my first thought was how much popular culture has changed
since then and how different society is today. The strange thing is, the more I tried to differentiate
between them, the more similarities I found. Both the sixties and the nineties were about youth,
creativity, free thinking, and expression. With the nineties coming to a close and the popularity of
anything ?retro, I decided to compare the fashions, people, music, and issues that defined pop culture
in the 1960?s and its influence on pop culture in the 1990?s.
In the 1960?s, society was changing by the minute and fashion was ?anything goes?. In the early
sixties, Jackie Kennedy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As fashion in the 60?s influenced fashion in the 90?s, the spirit of music in the 60?s is present in the
music of the 90?s. Many of the artists popular in the sixties are still major forces in music today. There
is no one genre of music that can define either decade. After the appearance of the Beatles and the
British invasion in the early sixties, music changed and everything before it was all but swept away.
There was surf music from the Beach Boys; folk music from Bob Dylan; R B influenced music from
Motown and the Rolling Stones; and psychedelic music from Jefferson Airplane and the Doors. In the
nineties, many new types of music evolved. These include rap music and hip hop which came from
urban dissatisfaction and unrest, while underground alternative rock became mainstream. In 1969, the
Woodstock music festival embodied the spirit of peace and love. It was repeated in 1994 and 1999, but
unfortunately, the festival in 1999 ended in violence, marring the essence of the original Woodstock.
Racial tensions, civil rights disturbances, and deeply divided opinions over the American presence in
the Vietnam war, all served to give the sixties a radical edge. People were passionate about what they
believed in and were willing to give their lives, if necessary, to the cause. Young people became
increasingly opposed to the Vietnam war and had a tendency to express their opinions more violently

My Culture And Culture
Age In my culture depending on how old you are is how others in the family will treat you. For
example elders such as our abuelitos are the ones that get the most respect. We treat them with great
respect and love since they are much wiser and in some cases are the ones who will defend you from
your parents. The little kids are over protected especially by moms. Wherever they go they have to be
accompanied by someone older than them. Once you start hitting the adolescence age or the pre adult
age is when you start getting more trust and responsibility from the other adults. Gender Gender for
me is unfair in my culture. If you are born a girl you will be much more protected than the boys. For
example my brother can go wherever he likes at whatever time he likes and with whoever he wants,
but for me I can not do that. I often ask my parents why that is and their answer is because you are a
girl and you face more dangers than a guy would. I understand this and this is sadly true, girls do face
much more risks than guys do, but I still think it s unfair. Girls should be able to go out just like any
guy would. Religion Religion for me is very important. Since I was a little girl my parents have taught
me to be religious. Religion for me is to have faith that everything will be alright and that God has a
purpose for all of us. I have been Baptized into the Catholic church and have done all the sacraments
required, such as my First Communion and Confirmation.

The Consequences Of Capitalism And Authenticity
Capitalism or Authenticity Considering the way in which people live their lives these days, it can be
noted that they are not living a balanced life; if a balanced life is to be considered as the life which
includes both capitalistic involvement and family time in equal portions . Every average individual
favors a capitalistic world, and this desire brings many complications which result in unbalanced
lifestyles. That is mainly because capitalism requires time dedication which people willingly dedicate,
and this obstructs the gateway to the balanced life. Hence, people are unable to spend an equal amount
of time with their families as they are at their workplace. Families and friends can provide the people
with genuine happiness and a stress free environment, the two factors that capitalism fails in providing
even if the people, like Adam Gopnik, love the career life they re living. people s minds are soaked
with the idea that capitalism will lead them to success, to living the life they want in the future, so they
continue to become an active part of the capitalistic world. However, although capitalism rewards the
people with money, which is the number one concern for many, it fails in rewarding the people with a
balanced lifestyle. Due to the increasing interest in joining the capitalistic life, individuals believe
successful capitalists have to be very productive and so they spend hours and hours of their valuable
time putting their maximum effort in becoming

My Life Lesson Trough A Teacher s Eyes
The Life Lesson Trough a Teacher s Eyes, is a book written by Dr. Jillian Laderhouse. This book is
like a journal where Dr. Laterhouse tells personal experiences that have shaped her life. The book
commences off with a strongly affirmation where Dr. Latehouse states that be a teacher is her life s
calling. In the introduction of the book Laterhouse establish her foundation as a teacher, she
mentioned many experiences that shape her as a teacher and recall the fact that she lived in a teacher
profession family. She mentioned stories about her childhood, stories that have shaped her life into the
teacher profession; she stated I grew in a teacher s home . As I read the book I noticed that I have not
had the same opportunity as Laterhouse to live in a teacher s home. However, as I continue reading the
book I saw that the lessons learned by the author can help me even though I did not grow in a teacher
s home. It is evident in the book the spiritual life and God centered life.
Laterhouse dived her book in seven lesson learned. Every lesson brings me to reflect about God, about
myself and about others. I consider that every lesson mentioned is important I will recall those points
that I consider important to my life. The first lesson learned was from parenting. As Laterhouse
mentioned as believers we have guidance available to us through prayer and Scripture, but became

A closer look at the return on assets ratio tells us that the company is not using its assets efficiently to
generate its profit, as the figure of 2015 is lower than that of the previous two years. Return on
investment ratio measures the ability to generate profit from owner s investment. From the chart above
we can see that while the figure in 2015 is greater than that of 2013, it is still less than that of 2014.
Thus, the company is showing a deteriorating performance and profitability based on comparison with
figures of the previous years. 2. Risk In order to determine the risk associated with investing in a
company, it is crucial to look at the company s financing of operations. In particular, the investor
should focus on finance through liabilities versus finance through equity. While reliance on debt does
not necessarily equate to less profitability, the impact of debt management and interest expense on
said debts is important for the company s future performance. We can use financial ratios to evaluate
its risk profile:
Liabilities to assets ratio, or debt to capital ratio, gives a comparison on the company s total liabilities
to totals assets. This

Similar to Alfred H. Bill s Rehearsal for Conflict: The War with Mexico, 1846 1848 (1969),

when examining the Second Seminole War in relation to the development of the Regular Army in the
19th century. The Second Seminole War transcended the other Indian Wars in the antebellum period in
scale, duration, and complexity. Moreover, it was the testing ground for the internal developments and

  • 3. The Importance Of Fair Trade Merchandise At Hebden Bridge... In this task I will be examining the interest for and accessibility of Fair trade merchandise in a nearby retail zone in Hebden Bridge and lime square, I have decided to explore these two places as they are contradictory Hebden Bridge located in a rural area and Lime Square located in a non rural area. Firstly, I am going to discuss moral utilization; Ethical consumerism is purchasing things that are made ethically. For the most part, this implies without mischief to or misuse of people, creatures or the indigenous habitat, or the exploitation of human (sweatshops) in Ledc countries, it additionally implies to Positive purchasing and supporting moral items, and organizations that work on standards and construct to basically bring in light of Benefit for the growth of the world as opposed to self interest, allowing business self interest only for the continuation of doing general good for the environment and the primary input workers. It s essential that we start consuming ethical products as there are more positive benefit socially, environmentally and economically for instance, if we start consuming ethical stuff we will be decreasing carbon dioxide that is let in the atmosphere automatically reducing global warming and also stop the use of fossil fuel transportation to send goods to another country. An economic benefit of fair trade goods is that Ledc worker will be able to get fair wages, proper working condition, making the country a more infrastructure area, social ... • 4. Iwo Jima And Okinawa Kiran Klubock Iwo Jima and Okinawa Kiran Klubock Shukla The battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa were two of the most important American operations in the Pacific Theatre against the Empire of Japan during World War Two. The goal of the two operations was to secure strategically important islands close to Japan to use for bombing campaigns. The battles for Iwo Jima(February March 1945) and Okinawa f(April June 1945) killed hundreds of thousands of soldiers and civilians and helped to win the war for the United States. In February of 1944, the U.S. launched Operation Detachment, an effort to seize control of an important island close to Japan. Iwo Jima could provide a launching point for bombers flying to the Japanese Home Islands and help to defeat the Japanese. Iwo Jima is an island in the Bonin chain, situated about 575 miles from Japan. It s prominent feature is Mount Suribachi, a volcanic mountain on the southern tip of the island. Iwo Jima did not have a civilian population but was well protected by roughly 23,000 Japanese soldiers in caves, foxholes, and pillboxes (pillboxes were concrete boxes with small holes for shooting enemies). Before the land invasion, Iwo Jima endured a heavy bombardment by ships and planes, which, however, did very little to destroy the Japanese resistance. On February 19th, at 8:30 in the morning, the invasion started. At least 90,000 marines stormed the volcanic sands of the beachheads with huge casualties. Unable to protect themselves on the open ... • 5. Fish Respiration Vs. Temperature Lab Report Fish Respiration vs. Temperature Lab Report Overview: The purpose of this experiment was to see how a fish can maintain homeostasis when put through physiological stress in different temperatures of water. The fish respired less in the water that was 12 degrees and respired the most in the water that was 27 degrees. It s respirations in 20 degree water were closer to the amount of respirations in the 27 degree water than in the 12 degree water. It is important to see how organisms acclimate to their environment so that scientists know the limits of the organism s tolerance range. Scientists want to perform experiments with organisms, but killing them is not ideal for the purposes. Introduction: Alternative Hypothesis: If a fish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Too drastic of a change (say, putting the fish into the coldest water right after it had been in the warmest water) can be harmful and even deadly to the organism. A stable set of internal conditions is needed for any organism to survive in its environment. Typically, cold blooded animals, or ectotherms, such as fish and lizards, have a wider range of tolerance in conditions in which they can survive. This is because, unlike endotherms, their body can adjust to its external environment. In an endotherm (warm blooded animal), their conditions are determined by their internal environment, not their external. Because a fish is an ectotherm, it could handle the changes in temperature even though it was put through physiological stress. Cyber Threats And Its Impact On The Past Year Intro In an age of rapidly expanding data and highly skilled threat actors, technological advancements present the urgent duality of major opportunity and critical risk. A universities data is integral to both, and a critical asset that differentiates organizations. While it is impractical to completely keep it locked down and yet open, it is use can threaten the organization s existence. Therefore, the challenge for IT team security leaders is striking a delicate balance being security aware and remaining business driven. The human and technological aspects of cyber threats changed dramatically in the past year. Witnessing innovative techniques blended with the outmoded, resulting in highly evasive attacks. Recently we have seen sizeable business, corporations, governmental agencies, and banking institutions, which we perceive as extremely secure, broken into. Vulnerabilities, uncovered by hackers who in turn exploit them in out of date infrastructure standards and developments such as the Internet of Things (IoT) have emerged to present an entirely new set of infrastructure challenges. Hackers continue to develop novel methods to breach the security of the institutions they target. These methods are increasingly more sophisticated and difficult to detect with the tools and programs designed to detect attacks and intrusions. • 8. The Raven Edgar Allan Poe Analysis The poem The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe can be interpreted in many different ways. In my opinion, the poem tells of a woman that was very important in his life. The raven in the poem is his representation of the constant reminder that his lost loved one named Lenore is gone. There is a lot of evidence that supports this claim throughout the poem that Poe uses. The narrator in The Raven is grieving the death of a woman named Lenore. However, in the poem, we do not know who Lenore is to him but we can guess that she had an impact on his life such as that of a mother or girl that he had deep feelings for. The tone of the poem suggests that he is very depressed that she is gone and is mourning her death still. At first, when the narrator hears ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He needs to let go of the death of her but just like the raven, it is lingering around him causing him more sorrow. Nevertheless, the bird hangs around him just like his depression about his loss relating the raven to the death of Lenore, or death in general. When the narrator keeps hearing the raven say, Nevermore he thinks maybe that this is the only word that the bird knows. Then as he sits and the raven remains he thinks more and speaks, Other friends have flown before On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before. In this quote, the narrator is referring to his hopes that maybe one day Lenore will return, but those thoughts have left him which is causing him to feel so lonely and sad about her death. When the narrator realizes that the raven is not leaving, he then decides to try and figure out what exactly is the meaning of its appearance and it only speaking the word nevermore. He concludes that maybe the bird came from an angry owner making the bird sad like him and causing it to repeat that word. The way the narrator describes the bird in the next lines of the poem point toward the true meaning of it, he uses terms such as, grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous... (Poe, Line 71). It is at this moment when the narrator s mood darkens even more and he connects the raven fully to Lenore. The way the bird is looking at him makes him think about the word nevermore in a ... • 9. The Chrysalids is a Dark Book by John Wyndham The Chrysalids by John Wyndham is a dark book where the plot, characters and setting are all influenced by death. The word Chrysalid is a scientific term which refers to the larva that most insects pass through before becoming adults. John Wyndham metaphorically compares this definition to the story by comparing this process to humans. He is saying that the state humans were in before Tribulation was a baby state and now they are maturing into adults. It does not come at an easy price; sacrifice and death affect the process of change. The influence of prejudice and bigotry throughout The Chrysalids leads to death in the lives of Sophie Wender, Aunt Harriet and Joseph Strorm. Firstly, resulting from prejudice and bigotry Sophie is killed tragically. Since Sophie was born with a mutation (a sixth toe) the community of Waknuk s views towards Sophie s extra toe force Sophie and her family to flee to the Fringes. The Fringes is a dry wasteland where all deviations (mutations) are sent to die upon their discovery. After Sophie and her family fled; the inspector a man who monitors mutations speaks to David about Sophie s toe, telling David the seriousness of the situation. Not reporting a human deviation is a very, very serious thing. People go to prison for it. (51). Being pushed to the Fringes because of prejudice and bigotry brings Sophie one step closer to her own demise. Consequently, her new life is filled with darkness, starvation and loneliness in which death slowly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though the setting take place in the north in Ohio (1940s) the color of your skin is still a factor. Morrison uses the black community as example to expose how racial conflict occurred without the evolvement of white people. Morrison s style also uses the theme ideals opposed to reality that Hawthorne, Melville, Cather, Fitzgerald, and Twin use. The young girls want to be white but hate that who they are isn t adored. Usually, what constitutes making up a family is relative to a specific culture, but as always, there are exceptions to the rule. Even as early as the 1950 s, television producers made programming that would represent what exactly the ideal American family was. Take for example the show quot;Leave It to Beaver quot;. The father figure, Homer, meets this factor with his job at the nuclear power plant within his hometown of Springfield. So according to the statistics, the Simpson family could be considered an average American family. Rhetorical Analysis Of How To Tame A Wild Tongue Blah Blah Blah Title In How to Tame a Wild Tongue, Gloria Anzaldua uses rhetoric and personal anecdotes to convey and persuade her argument that Latin Americans are forced to relinquish their cultural heritage, and to conform to white society. The evidence she provides comes in a variety of platforms, both literal and rhetorical. Rhetorical, being through emotional, logical, and credible appeals through her text. Literal being explicitly stated, without any further analysis necessary. When she utilises the modes of appeals, they are subtle within the texts, which leads the reader to analyse as they read. She conveys ideas of internalised oppression, involuntarily imposed upon to follow strict social rules, the act of people erasing cultural heritage, as well as the importance of embracing personal heritage. Throughout her essay, Anzaldua s main structure is unlike the standard structure of an essay. Her thoughts are organised, and radical, which gives a more personal tone to her essay. This radical structure is witnessed within the introductory paragraphs, she begins her essay with an anecdote. The dentist is telling her in an authoritarian tone, we re going to have to control your tongue , which has a double meaning. When organizations unite, leaders are held responsible for their global practices, motivating action rather than hesitation. Accountable leaders are essential in a strong government because they take action and motivate change. When a government has weak leaders, actions are postponed and hesitation causes delays in funding, education, and volunteers. Civil groups, along with other non governmental organizations, need their opinions heard. This Harvard college professor of psychology published one of the best time selling books, Stumbling on Happiness, arguing that imagination is what triggers peoples joy. As a social psychologist Gilbert wanted to understand what is it that truly causes that feeling to come. People continue believing in beliefs that aren t necessary true simply because people and society can t handle the truth. For instance, if you give up after a failure, you will never reach your goals. In the final chapter of Stumbling on Happiness, Gilbert addresses how people who only imagine what will make them happy in the future tend to make poor decisions. Men hunted and acquired meat; women were preparing meat at home and served it to the family. All primitive communities are characterised by the subordinate role of woman. Food in Douglas classification theory has been linked with rituals which adherence prevents the chaos and the social destruction. Deep divide between gender roles in the patriarchal model of society, became a precondition of social order. If you are life, it is very natural to love (Sandhguru). The four young lovers in A Midsummer Night s Dream encountered love and ended up doing anything to keep that love. In the beginning of A Midsummer Night s Dream Hermia and her father, Egeus, are arguing over who she should marry. Back in these times a father could decide who his daughter marries whether she loves the man or not. Hermia has fallen in love with Lysander but her father wants her to marry Demetrius. The love Hermia feels for Lysander is so strong that she doesn t care what her father thinks. Hermia and Lysander form a plan to escape Athens and go into the woods where they can love freely. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, Athens represents the physically grounded world of facts, while the woods represent the metaphysical world of the poet s imagination (Ritcher). In bioinformatics, clustering can be used in genetics studies to find clusters of subjects according to their gene expression levels. We can then see if subjects with the same disease state or treatment have the same gene profiles, which can give us more information about diseases or treatments and their relations to genetics. The Hierarchical Ordered Partitioning and Collapsing Hybrid (HOPACH) clustering algorithm can be used to identify clusters of data. In looking further into this, I found that the default number of bootstrap samples is 1000. The documentation for this package noted that this method is computationally expensive, especially as the number of bootstrap samples gets larger. Something that I would be interested in learning more about is the extent to which the number of bootstrap samples affects the results of the cluster validation as well as how low you can go in the number of bootstrap samples while still ensuring a relatively high level of accuracy. Especially for big data sets I would assume that it is important to minimize the computational time and power used in analysis, so it would be valuable to have more information on the effects of lowering the number of bootstrap samples both on computational expense as well as on accuracy. I am also curious concerning other ways the HOPACH method along with bootstrapping could be used within the field of bioinformatics. I think this would only be practical after the number of genes of interest had been minimized through other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was repeated in 1994 and 1999, but unfortunately, the festival in 1999 ended in violence, marring the essence of the original Woodstock. Wherever they go they have to be accompanied by someone older than them. Once you start hitting the adolescence age or the pre adult age is when you start getting more trust and responsibility from the other adults. Gender Gender for me is unfair in my culture.
