Choose one artwork from the Early Medieval, Romanesque, or Gothic presentations on Slideshare.net/loveart1. 2. Write a 1500 - 2000 word essay that focuses on the representative iconography in the artwork, taking into account the symbolic role of images, the historical or mythological identity of figures, and any other elements that may have significance. Be thorough in your descriptions and include all iconography in the artwork. Include a thesis statement that will give focus to your paper. 3. You will need to compile research about the icons / iconography, in addition to your own observations and interpretations. Use at least three reputable sources. For example, many art museums have their own websites for educational purposes. Use APA writing style and include a bibliography. Any information gleaned from research should involve the citation of references. Any writing that is not your own will be considered plagiarism and will result in failure of this assignment. 4. It is unnecessary to include any additional information or research unless it directly relates to the objective of writing about the iconography. 5. The paper should be printed on white A4 paper. Use a readable font such as Verdana, Helvetica, Garamond, or Tahoma. The text should be single-spaced. 6. Include a high resolution colored image of the artwork on a separate page. The artwork should be labeled with the name of the artist, title, date, dimensions, and medium under the artwork. The image should be labeled as Fig. 1, and this can be used in the body of the paper when referring to the artwork. 7. Include your name and student id number on the top right of each page. Staple the pages together. 8. Submit a hard copy of the paper directly to the instructor. Papers that are emailed will not be accepted. Papers submitted late will be downgraded for each class session that it is late. The paper must be completed to pass this course. The paper will be evaluated on the depth of discussion, topic focus and cohesiveness, integration of knowledge, mechanics of writing, and inclusion of an image with caption.
