- 2. Definition • Definition : Count is the numerical expression which express/indicates coarseness or fineness of yarn. • A definition of yarn count is given by textile institute “count is a number indicating the mass per unit length or the length per unit mass of yarn ”

- 5. Direct Count System • In this system the count of the yarn is weight per unit length of yarn. In this case higher the count, coarser is the yarn. • Tex, Decitex and Denier count systems are in this category
- 6. Indirect Count System • In this system the count is the length per unit weight of yarn. In this case higher the count, finer is the yarn. • English Cotton Count system and Metric System falls in to this category
