Editor's Notes

  • #2: This slideshow should take about 5 minutes. Some slides have custom animations, so be sure to practice so you know what to expect. Don’t dwell too long on a slide. This is just the overview before anyone turns it on. Be sure to change the name at the bottom of this slide to your own.
  • #3: This slide highlights that it’s much more than just a graphing calculator. Emphasize that files are interchangable on all 6 of the top bullets
  • #4: The keypad has two main regions: the NavPad at the top and the keyboard at the bottom. The NavPad acts as both a cursor controller and a mouse controller. It’s sensitive in more than four directions as you’ll see later. The button at the center of the Navpad is the ‘mouse click’ button and is also used for ‘grabbing’ objects to move them around. There are also four blue symbols around the edge of the NavPad that we’ll use later.
  • #5: The keypad has two main regions: the NavPad at the top and the keyboard at the bottom.
  • #6: The alphabet sits on the green keys. For capital letters, press the shift key first. There’s no special (x-t-theta-n) key anymore.
  • #7: There are some keys that you will recognize from a computer keyboard: esc, tab, ctrl, shift. There’s also a backspace key but no delete key. The backspace key performs both tasks. There are two keys here that are not found on a computer keyboard. The top one is the HOME key and always brings up the same HOME screen. The other one is on the next slide.
  • #8: Down the sides of the keyboard on the left side are the relational keys such as < and > and special symbols keys such as PI. Note the location of the ‘space’ character.
  • #10: “ Menu” brings up a menu of things you can do in the active application. The context menu brings up what you can do with the selected object, or where your pointer is at that moment. The Tools menu is like the menu bar in computer software.
  • #11: “ Menu” brings up a menu of things you can do in the active application. The context menu brings up what you can do with the selected object, or where your pointer is at that moment. The Tools menu is like the menu bar in computer software.
  • #12: “ Menu” brings up a menu of things you can do in the active app lication. The context menu brings up what you can do with the selected object, or where your pointer is at that moment.
  • #13: Note the similarity to computer software.
  • #14: Here’s a quick look at the 5 main APPs.
  • #15: The handheld, like the computer, is based on a file system. It’s computer software in a handheld, battery-operated, portable device. Documents contain problems which contain pages which contain apps. All pages within a problem are “aware” of the variables defined in other pages of that problem, regardless of where the variable is first assigned a value.
  • #16: This is the last slide. Time to turn ‘em on!
