INTRODUCTION
The role of education is the most pivotal factor in the development of any society as well as of
nation as a whole. It was rightly remarked by Kothari Education Commission (1964-66) that, “The destiny
of India is being shaped in its classrooms”. This statement shows the importance of education in modern
India. But this education should be of high quality and must bring desired changes among people. If the
educationneedstobeimprovedinbothlowerandhigherlevels,theeffectiveuse of internetisrequired.
Teaching and learning are complex processes. Throughout history, society has looked for better ways to
educate children. Americans are still struggling with that fundamental issue, particularly in light of our
diverse population and the rapid rate of technological change. The editors of Time magazine featured this
challenge with a recent cover entitled How to Build a Student For the 21st Century (Wallis & Steptoe,
2006).
Educators and researchers at The Center For Research on Education, Diversity and Excellence
(CREDE) have examined the processes of teaching. The research focus of this federally funded research
anddevelopmentprogramhas beentheimprovementinthequalityofeducationfor all.
Abstract:
This paper's main aim is to identify and discuss the areas of internet based e-
learning and teaching. Internet applications and model strategies for integrating ICT'S
into teaching learning process more effective and meaningful. Internet applications
consist of database, email, e-journal, World Wide Web, streaming audio and video, audio
and video conferencing. A model strategy elaborates web-based lessons which are web
quests, multimedia presentations, Cyber Guides, Telecommuting Projects, and Online
Discussions. Teaching learning process will be live and advanced by the best use of
internet in the classroom. The paper further discusses the place of internet, impacts of
internet on language education, also emphasizes advantages of using internet and
problem facing in implementation and finally gave some suggestions for effective
implementation of web based lessons and model strategies for real teaching and
learning. The Internet evolves continuously with new developments in tools and
capacities. Our understanding of how pupils learn continues to change, it is being
considered as a unique self-learning technique which enabled the individual to access
information on any issue under the sun within no time and less cost. Especially internet is
one of the prominent media of informal learning which is so useful for the students of
distance education and higher education in the context of globalization. This paper

II.PLACE OFINTERNET
For strengthening the future generation teaching and learning of language should be innovative
and effective in the schools, colleges, universities and other educational Institutions. The effective teaching
is the outcome of proper use of teaching methodologies and ICT. Internet is one of the famous and useful
techniques in ICT. Increasing use of internet made us communicate effectively, brought revolutionary
changesinourdailylife,andenabledquickadoptiontothesudden changesintheenvironment.
Day by day internet is gaining importance and inevitable in all the fields i.e. science, technology,
industry, Education, agriculture etc. Hence the number of internet users also increasing. As per the Internet
Worldstatus-2010thedetailsofinternetusers as follows:
Asia- 826.1 million, Europe-475.1 million, North America-266.1 million, Latin America-204.7
million,Africa-110.9 million,MiddleEast-63.2million,Australia-21.3million.[1]
INTERNETAPPLICATIONS
Le Loup and Ponterio (2001) listed a number of Internet applications that can be used to enrich the
Englishlanguageteachingandlearning.[2]
4.1. Database: is an organized collection of data, today typically in digital form. The data are typically
organized to model relevant aspects of reality (for example, the availability of rooms in hotels), in a way
thatsupports processes requiringthisinformation.
4.2. The World Wide Web (W3), abbreviated as WWW and commonly known as the Web, is a system of
interlinked hypertext documents accessed via Internet. With a web browser, one can view web pages that
maycontaintext,images,videos,andothermultimediaandnavigatebetweenthemviahyperlinks.
"The World-Wide Web was developed to be a pool of human knowledge, and human culture, which would
allowcollaboratorsinremotesitestosharetheirideasandallaspectsof acommonproject."
4.3. Streaming audio and video: Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and
presented to an end-user while being delivered by a provider. Its verb form, "to stream", refers to the process
of delivering media in this manner; the term refers to the delivery method of the medium rather than the
mediumitself.
A client media player can begin playing the data (such as a movie) before the entire file has been
transmitted. Distinguishing delivery method from the media distributed applies specifically to
telecommunications networks, as most other delivery systems are either inherently streaming (e.g., radio,
television) or inherently nonstreaming (e.g., books, video cassettes, audio CDs). Nowadays Internet
television is a common form of streamed media. The term "streaming media" can apply to media other than
video and audio such as live closed captioning, stock ticker, and real-time text, which are all considered
"streamingtext".
4.4. E-journals: known as journals, e-journals, and electronic serials, are scholarly journals or intellectual
magazines that can be accessed via electronic transmission. In practice, this means that they are usually
published on the Web. They are a specialized form of electronic document: they have the purpose of
providing material for academic research and study, and they are formatted approximately like journal
articlesintraditionalprintedjournals.
4.5.Audio and videoconferencing:
The ability for groups at distant locations to participate in the same meeting at the same time using analog or
digitalaudioandvideocapabilities.

4.6.An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site where people can hold conversations
in the form of posted messages. They differ from chat rooms in that messages are at least temporarily
archived. Also, depending on the access level of a user and/or the forum set-up, a posted message might
needtobeapprovedby amoderatorbeforeitbecomesvisible.
Aforum is hierarchical or tree-like in structure: a forum can contain a number of sub forums, each
of which may have several topics.Within a forum's topic, each new discussion started is called a thread, and
canberepliedtobyasmanypeopleas wish to.
Depending on the forum set-up, users can be anonymous or have to register with the forum and then
subsequentlylogininordertopostmessages.Usuallyyoudo nothavetologintoreadexistingmessages.
4.7. Electronic mail, commonly called e-mail, is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to
one or more recipients. Modern email operates across the Internet or other computer networks. Some early
email systems required that the author and the recipient both be online at the same time, a la instant
messaging. Today's email systems are based on a store-and-forward model. Email servers accept, forward,
deliver and store messages. Neither the users nor their computers are required to be online simultaneously;
they need connect only briefly, typically to an email server, for as long as it takes to send or receive
messages.
CATEGORIZATION OFAPPLICATIONS:
5.1. Information resources: Some of the applications are used as information resources such as:
[3&4]
5.1. a).Aweb directory or link directory is not a search engine and does not display lists of web pages based
on keywords; instead, it lists web sites by category and subcategory. Most web directory entries are also not
found by web crawlers but by humans. The categorization is usually based on the whole web site rather than
one page or a set of keywords, and sites are often limited to inclusion in only a few categories. Web
directories often allow site owners to directly submit their site for inclusion, and have editors review
submissions for fitness.
5.1.b). Searchable database: A database is a system intended to organize, store, and retrieve large amounts
of data easily. It consists of an organized collection of data for one or more uses, typically in digital
form. The computer programs that allow the storage of large amounts of information and give the capacity
tosearch,retrieve,sort, revise,analyzeandorderdata.
5.1.c).Onlinetextbooks:Digitalizedtextbooks, books etc.
5.1.d). Learningmaterials:Charts,images,maps,graphs andotherinstructionalmaterials.
5.2. Communication: Some of the applicationsareused as communicationsuch as:
5.2. a). A blog (a blend of the term web log) is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are usually
maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material
such as graphicsorvideo.Entriesarecommonlydisplayedinreverse-chronologicalorder.[7]
Most blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leavecommentsand even message each other via widgets on
theblogs anditis thisinteractivitythatdistinguishesthemfromotherstaticwebsites.
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online
diaries.Atypical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related
to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many
blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (art blog), photographs (photo blog),
videos (video blogging), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). Micro blogging is another type of
blogging,featuringveryshortposts.
5.2. b). Synchronous instant messengers: [6] Communication in which interaction between sender and
receivertakesplacesimultaneously(e.g.telephoneorvideoconferencing).
5.2. c)Asynchronous email: [6] No need to synchronize timing. No cross-Atlantic time-zones. No worry of
waking the other party up or interrupting a family dinner. The timing of processing of different classes of
messages can also be optimized for a number of criteria (e.g. maximum mental insight, counteracting
fatigue,apportioningstress, apportioningcreativestimulation,etc.)
5.2. d). Internet telephony programs: A category of hardware and software that enables people to use the
Internet as the transmission medium for telephone calls. For users who have free or fixed-price Internet
access, Internet telephony software essentially provides free telephone calls anywhere in the world. To
date, however, Internet phony does not offer the same quality of telephone service as direct telephone

connections. There are many Internet telephony applications available. Some, like Cool Talk and
NetMeeting, come bundled with popular Web browsers. Others are stand-alone products. Internet
telephony products are sometimes called IP telephony, Voice over the Internet (VOI) or Voice over IP
(VOIP) products.
5.2.e). Discussion forum: An Internet forum is an online discussion site where people can hold
conversations in the form of posted messages. They differ from chat rooms in that messages are at least
temporarily archived. Also, depending on the access level of a user or the forum set-up, a posted message
mightneedtobeapprovedby amoderatorbeforeitbecomesvisible.
5.3. Collaborativelearning:Some ofthe applicationsareused as collaborativelearningsuch as:
5.3. a) Document sharing: Document Sharing allows you to organize and view all of your documents and
content in an online file and folder structure. One can easily share content with others with a unique URLto
document and can upload documents of any sizes. Docuter offers the ability to share more than 300 file
types. Docuter allows you to decide who can read and access your files and who can edit them. You're
always in control of your data and can change user permissions any time you want. No need to send email
attachments. Using Docuter document sharing solution one can easily send secure links to the files instead
ofemailattachments.
The documents you need to work on with colleagues and teams will be available instantly and securely right
from your browser. Document sharing solution also allows easy document preview, annotations and secure
downloading.
5.4. Learningtools
5.4. a). Online dictionary: Online dictionaries similar to dictionary programs, these are often easy to
search, but not always free to use, and in some cases lack the accuracy (particularly in open collaborative
dictionaries),orscopeofprintedandelectronicdictionaries.
5.4. b). Text-to-speech: A text-to-speech (TTS) system converts normal language text into speech; other
systemsrendersymboliclinguisticrepresentationslikephonetictranscriptionsintospeech.
5.4. c). Character animation is a specialized area of the animation process concerning the animation of one
or more characters featured in an animated work. It is usually as one aspect of a larger production and often
made to enhance voice acting. The primary role of a Character Animator is to be the "actor" behind the
performance, especially during shots with no dialog. Character animation is artistically unique from other
animationinthatitinvolvesthecreationofapparentthoughtandemotioninadditiontophysicalaction.
5.4. d). Concordance, [8] text analysis and concordance software, is for anyone who needs to study texts
closely or analyse language in depth. This is the most powerful and flexible concordance program, with
registeredusers in70 countries.You candownloada30-daytrialnow.
5.5USING MODELSTRATEGIES FORINTEGRATING ICTs INTOTEACHING [3&4]
In an effort to implement ICT standards in a variety of coursework taken by teachers across all
subject disciplines, a number of methods and strategies have been identified. Many of these strategies
employ commonly used productivity tools such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, or browser
applications.Thesesoftwaretoolscanbeusedincountlessways tosupport thesubjectareacurricula.
Additional strategies, that are multipurpose in application, may also be used to help teacher candidates
quickly develop technology-rich lessons for Their Fieldwork. An overview of proven effective models and
strategies for web-based lessons, multimedia presentations, tele-computing projects, and online
discussions ispresentedbelow.
WEB-BASED LESSONS:
The innovative and effective teaching and learning language can be done by following web-based
lessons.
5.5.a)WebQuests: [9]
A Web Quest is an inquiry-oriented activity, using information rather than looking for it, and to support
learners'thinkingatthelevelsofanalysis,synthesis, andevaluation.

5.5.c)CyberGuides:[9]
Cyber Guides include standards-based, web-delivered units of instruction centered on core works
of literature. Cyber Guides provide a quick supplementary set of activities for students as they explore
specific pieces of literature. Each Cyber Guide contains a student and teacher edition, targeted standards, a
descriptionofthetask,aprocess by whichthetaskmaybecompleted,teacher-selectedweb sites.
5.5.d)TelecommutingProjects:
Telecommuting projects are Internet-enriched learning activities. They may share, among other
things: experiences, beliefs, data, information, and problem-solving strategies, products they have
developedor jointlydeveloped.
Telecommuting tools include email, electronic bulletin boards, discussion groups, web browsers,
real-time chatting, and audio- and video-conferencing. Online resources include web sites, interactive
environments,
5.5.e).OnlineDiscussions:
A common type of telecommuting activity is online discussion. Students and teacher candidates
can connect to experts and peers through a variety of formats, such as chat rooms, electronic bulletin
boards, and email. Communicating online offers participants freedom to send and receive information
efficiently across diverse geographic locations. Online discussions can provide rich learning experiences as

INTERNETIMPACTS ONLANGUAGE EDUCATION
1.The way of class preparation and presentation changed (including testing) – from pen and paper
(textbook,handouts,tests)tokeyboardandscreen(media)PPT, ePlan,eText,[4]
2.Theway of teachingandlearningchangedfromoneway deliverytotwoway interaction/communication.
3.Not only between teachers and students (Blogs, discussions, email), but also between the students and
nativespeakersof thetargetlanguagesor learnerselsewhere.[4]
ADVANTAGES OFUSINGTHEINTERNET
Aydin (2001) summarized the research results on advantages of using the Internet in language
teachingandlearning.[5]
1.Helpinglearnerstogainmoreinputs.
2.Increaseof synchronous andasynchronous communication.
3.Giving the opportunity to construct knowledge together by expressing themselves in print and then
assessing, evaluating,comparing,andreflectingon theirown views andthoseofothers.
4.Communication with native speakers allows learners to practice specific skills such as negotiating,
persuading,clarifyingmeaning,requestinginformation,andengagingintrue-life,authenticdiscussion.
PROBLEMSFACING IN IMPLEMENTATION [5]
1.1. Accessibility and inequity: the internet is not always accessible by all learners and teachers. 75.6% in
Sweden vs 4.5% inKenya.
2.2. Internetunfamiliarity:someteachersandstudentsarenotfamiliarwiththeInternet.
3.Not alltopicsaresuitablefor schoolchildren.
4.Information explosion: The increasing amount of information generally makes learners confused while
theytrytoreachspecificinformation.
5.Frequenttransferof teachersandcostsoftrainingentirecadre.
6.Poor connectivityinruralareas.

CONCLUSION
In addition to the advantages of the internet mentioned above, it is being considered as a unique
self-learning technique which enabled the individual to access information on any issue under the sun
within no time and less cost. Especially internet is so useful for the students of distance education and is the
one of the prominent media of informal learning. In the era of information it has removed the geographical
restriction between the countries and regions in accessing information with less physical effort and
resources and has became the channel for free flow of knowledge which is very much inevitable in the
contextof globalization.

Internet technologies have fundamentally altered the technological and economic landscape so radically that it is now possible to make quantum leaps in the use oftechnologyfor learning(Rosenberg, 2001, p.xv) FOCUS OFTHEPAPER 1.Tostudy theimpactsofinterneton teachingandlearning. 2.Tostudy thescopeofinternetinteachingandlearning. 3.Tostudy theapplicationsofinternetthismayplaydifferentrolesintheclassroom. 4.Topromotethinkingandreflectionaboutthebestuse of internetintheclassroom. 5.Tostudy theadvantagesanddisadvantagesintheuseofinternetinclassroom. II.PLACE OFINTERNET For strengthening the future generation teaching and learning of language should be innovative and effective in the schools, colleges, universities and other educational Institutions. The effective teaching is the outcome of proper use of teaching methodologies and ICT. Internet is one of the famous and useful techniques in ICT. Increasing use of internet made us communicate effectively, brought revolutionary changesinourdailylife, andenabledquickadoptiontothesudden changesintheenvironment. Day by day internet is gaining importance and inevitable in all the fields i.e. science, technology, industry, Education, agriculture etc. Hence the number of internet users also increasing. As per the Internet Worldstatus-2010thedetailsofinternetusers as follows: Asia- 826.1 million, Europe-475.1 million, North America-266.1 million, Latin America-204.7 million,Africa-110.9 million,MiddleEast-63.2million,Australia-21.3million.[1] INTERNETAPPLICATIONS Le Loup and Ponterio (2001) listed a number of Internet applications that can be used to enrich the Englishlanguageteachingandlearning.[2] 4.1. Database: is an organized collection of data, today typically in digital form. The data are typically organized to model relevant aspects of reality (for example, the availability of rooms in hotels), in a way thatsupports processes requiringthisinformation. 4.2. The World Wide Web (W3), abbreviated as WWW and commonly known as the Web, is a system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via Internet. With a web browser, one can view web pages that maycontaintext, images, videos, andothermultimediaandnavigatebetweenthemviahyperlinks. "The World-Wide Web was developed to be a pool of human knowledge, and human culture, which would allowcollaboratorsinremotesitestosharetheirideasandallaspectsof acommonproject." 4.3. Streaming audio and video: Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end-user while being delivered by a provider. Its verb form, "to stream", refers to the process of delivering media in this manner; the term refers to the delivery method of the medium rather than the mediumitself. A client media player can begin playing the data (such as a movie) before the entire file has been transmitted. Distinguishing delivery method from the media distributed applies specifically to telecommunications networks, as most other delivery systems are either inherently streaming (e.g., radio, television) or inherently nonstreaming (e.g., books, video cassettes, audio CDs). Nowadays Internet television is a common form of streamed media. The term "streaming media" can apply to media other than video and audio such as live closed captioning, stock ticker, and real-time text, which are all considered "streamingtext". 4.4. E-journals: known as journals, e-journals, and electronic serials, are scholarly journals or intellectual magazines that can be accessed via electronic transmission. In practice, this means that they are usually published on the Web. They are a specialized form of electronic document: they have the purpose of providing material for academic research and study, and they are formatted approximately like journal articlesintraditionalprintedjournals. 4.5.Audio and videoconferencing: The ability for groups at distant locations to participate in the same meeting at the same time using analog or digitalaudioandvideocapabilities. 2 INTERNET APPLICATIONS AND MODEL STRATEGIES FOR INTEGRATING...... • 3. 4.6.An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages. They differ from chat rooms in that messages are at least temporarily archived. Also, depending on the access level of a user and/or the forum set-up, a posted message might needtobeapprovedby amoderatorbeforeitbecomesvisible. Aforum is hierarchical or tree-like in structure: a forum can contain a number of sub forums, each of which may have several topics.Within a forum's topic, each new discussion started is called a thread, and canberepliedtobyasmanypeopleas wish to. Depending on the forum set-up, users can be anonymous or have to register with the forum and then subsequentlylogininordertopostmessages.Usuallyyoudo nothavetologintoreadexistingmessages. 4.7. Electronic mail, commonly called e-mail, is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients. Modern email operates across the Internet or other computer networks. Some early email systems required that the author and the recipient both be online at the same time, a la instant messaging. Today's email systems are based on a store-and-forward model. Email servers accept, forward, deliver and store messages. Neither the users nor their computers are required to be online simultaneously; they need connect only briefly, typically to an email server, for as long as it takes to send or receive messages. CATEGORIZATION OFAPPLICATIONS: 5.1. Information resources: Some of the applications are used as information resources such as: [3&4] 5.1. a).Aweb directory or link directory is not a search engine and does not display lists of web pages based on keywords; instead, it lists web sites by category and subcategory. Most web directory entries are also not found by web crawlers but by humans. The categorization is usually based on the whole web site rather than one page or a set of keywords, and sites are often limited to inclusion in only a few categories. Web directories often allow site owners to directly submit their site for inclusion, and have editors review submissions for fitness. 5.1.b). Searchable database: A database is a system intended to organize, store, and retrieve large amounts of data easily. It consists of an organized collection of data for one or more uses, typically in digital form. The computer programs that allow the storage of large amounts of information and give the capacity tosearch, retrieve, sort, revise, analyzeandorderdata. 5.1.c).Onlinetextbooks:Digitalizedtextbooks, books etc. 5.1.d). Learningmaterials:Charts, images, maps, graphs andotherinstructionalmaterials. 5.2. Communication: Some of the applicationsareused as communicationsuch as: 5.2. a). A blog (a blend of the term web log) is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphicsorvideo.Entriesarecommonlydisplayedinreverse-chronologicalorder.[7] Most blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leavecommentsand even message each other via widgets on theblogs anditis thisinteractivitythatdistinguishesthemfromotherstaticwebsites. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries.Atypical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (art blog), photographs (photo blog), videos (video blogging), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). Micro blogging is another type of blogging, featuringveryshortposts. 5.2. b). Synchronous instant messengers: [6] Communication in which interaction between sender and receivertakesplacesimultaneously(e.g.telephoneorvideoconferencing). 5.2. c)Asynchronous email: [6] No need to synchronize timing. No cross-Atlantic time-zones. No worry of waking the other party up or interrupting a family dinner. The timing of processing of different classes of messages can also be optimized for a number of criteria (e.g. maximum mental insight, counteracting fatigue, apportioningstress, apportioningcreativestimulation, etc.) 5.2. d). Internet telephony programs: A category of hardware and software that enables people to use the Internet as the transmission medium for telephone calls. For users who have free or fixed-price Internet access, Internet telephony software essentially provides free telephone calls anywhere in the world. To date, however, Internet phony does not offer the same quality of telephone service as direct telephone 3 INTERNET APPLICATIONS AND MODEL STRATEGIES FOR INTEGRATING...... Internet telephony products are sometimes called IP telephony, Voice over the Internet (VOI) or Voice over IP (VOIP) products. 5.2.e). Discussion forum: An Internet forum is an online discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages. They differ from chat rooms in that messages are at least temporarily archived. Also, depending on the access level of a user or the forum set-up, a posted message mightneedtobeapprovedby amoderatorbeforeitbecomesvisible. 5.3. Collaborativelearning:Some ofthe applicationsareused as collaborativelearningsuch as: 5.3. a) Document sharing: Document Sharing allows you to organize and view all of your documents and content in an online file and folder structure. One can easily share content with others with a unique URLto document and can upload documents of any sizes. Docuter offers the ability to share more than 300 file types. Docuter allows you to decide who can read and access your files and who can edit them. You're always in control of your data and can change user permissions any time you want. No need to send email attachments. Using Docuter document sharing solution one can easily send secure links to the files instead ofemailattachments. The documents you need to work on with colleagues and teams will be available instantly and securely right from your browser. Document sharing solution also allows easy document preview, annotations and secure downloading. 5.4. Learningtools 5.4. a). Online dictionary: Online dictionaries similar to dictionary programs, these are often easy to search, but not always free to use, and in some cases lack the accuracy (particularly in open collaborative dictionaries),orscopeofprintedandelectronicdictionaries. 5.4. b). Text-to-speech: A text-to-speech (TTS) system converts normal language text into speech; other systemsrendersymboliclinguisticrepresentationslikephonetictranscriptionsintospeech. 5.4. c). Character animation is a specialized area of the animation process concerning the animation of one or more characters featured in an animated work. It is usually as one aspect of a larger production and often made to enhance voice acting. The primary role of a Character Animator is to be the "actor" behind the performance, especially during shots with no dialog. Character animation is artistically unique from other animationinthatitinvolvesthecreationofapparentthoughtandemotioninadditiontophysicalaction. 5.4. d). Concordance, [8] text analysis and concordance software, is for anyone who needs to study texts closely or analyse language in depth. This is the most powerful and flexible concordance program, with registeredusers in70 countries. You candownloada30-daytrialnow. 5.5USING MODELSTRATEGIES FORINTEGRATING ICTs INTOTEACHING [3&4] In an effort to implement ICT standards in a variety of coursework taken by teachers across all subject disciplines, a number of methods and strategies have been identified. Many of these strategies employ commonly used productivity tools such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, or browser applications.Thesesoftwaretoolscanbeusedincountlessways tosupport thesubjectareacurricula. Additional strategies, that are multipurpose in application, may also be used to help teacher candidates quickly develop technology-rich lessons for Their Fieldwork. An overview of proven effective models and strategies for web-based lessons, multimedia presentations, tele-computing projects, and online discussions ispresentedbelow. WEB-BASED LESSONS: The innovative and effective teaching and learning language can be done by following web-based lessons. 5.5.a)WebQuests: [9] A Web Quest is an inquiry-oriented activity, using information rather than looking for it, and to support learners'thinkingatthelevelsofanalysis, synthesis, andevaluation. 4Golden Research Thoughts • Volume 2 Issue 11 • May 2013 INTERNET APPLICATIONS AND MODEL STRATEGIES FOR INTEGRATING......

Cyber Guides provide a quick supplementary set of activities for students as they explore specific pieces of literature. Each Cyber Guide contains a student and teacher edition, targeted standards, a descriptionofthetask, aprocess by whichthetaskmaybecompleted,teacher-selectedweb sites. 5.5.d)TelecommutingProjects: Telecommuting projects are Internet-enriched learning activities. They may share, among other things: experiences, beliefs, data, information, and problem-solving strategies, products they have developedor jointlydeveloped. Telecommuting tools include email, electronic bulletin boards, discussion groups, web browsers, real-time chatting, and audio- and video-conferencing. Online resources include web sites, interactive environments, 5.5.e).OnlineDiscussions: A common type of telecommuting activity is online discussion. Students and teacher candidates can connect to experts and peers through a variety of formats, such as chat rooms, electronic bulletin boards, and email. Communicating online offers participants freedom to send and receive information efficiently across diverse geographic locations. Online discussions can provide rich learning experiences as theinter-culturalexchangesdevelopbothlinguisticskillsandculturalknowledge. INTERNETIMPACTS ONLANGUAGE EDUCATION 1.The way of class preparation and presentation changed (including testing) – from pen and paper (textbook, handouts, tests)tokeyboardandscreen(media)PPT, ePlan,eText,[4] 2.Theway of teachingandlearningchangedfromoneway deliverytotwoway interaction/communication. 3.Not only between teachers and students (Blogs, discussions, email), but also between the students and nativespeakersof thetargetlanguagesor learnerselsewhere.[4] ADVANTAGES OFUSINGTHEINTERNET Aydin (2001) summarized the research results on advantages of using the Internet in language teachingandlearning.[5] 1.Helpinglearnerstogainmoreinputs. 2.Increaseof synchronous andasynchronous communication. 3.Giving the opportunity to construct knowledge together by expressing themselves in print and then assessing, evaluating, comparing, andreflectingon theirown views andthoseofothers. 4.Communication with native speakers allows learners to practice specific skills such as negotiating, persuading,clarifyingmeaning,requestinginformation,andengagingintrue-life,authenticdiscussion. PROBLEMSFACING IN IMPLEMENTATION [5] 1.1. Accessibility and inequity: the internet is not always accessible by all learners and teachers. 75.6% in Sweden vs 4.5% inKenya. 2.2. Internetunfamiliarity:someteachersandstudentsarenotfamiliarwiththeInternet. 3.Not alltopicsaresuitablefor schoolchildren. 4.Information explosion: The increasing amount of information generally makes learners confused while theytrytoreachspecificinformation. 5.Frequenttransferof teachersandcostsoftrainingentirecadre. 6.Poor connectivityinruralareas. 5Golden Research Thoughts • Volume 2 Issue 11 • May 2013 INTERNET APPLICATIONS AND MODEL STRATEGIES FOR INTEGRATING......

CONCLUSION In addition to the advantages of the internet mentioned above, it is being considered as a unique self-learning technique which enabled the individual to access information on any issue under the sun within no time and less cost. Especially internet is so useful for the students of distance education and is the one of the prominent media of informal learning. In the era of information it has removed the geographical restriction between the countries and regions in accessing information with less physical effort and resources and has became the channel for free flow of knowledge which is very much inevitable in the contextof globalization.
