August was Women’s Month in South Africa and AfroCentric Group used this moment to spotlight black women entrepreneurs whose work reflects meaningful transformation in healthcare. AfroCentric invested over R11.6 million through its Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) and Socio-Economic Development (SED) programmes to support: • Tsepiso Malo Monamodi, who leads Oratile Kids, scaled her baby skincare and footwear brand with infrastructure funding and compliance support. • Sister Nonina Diphoko, behind Eluthandweni Maternity Services, delivers maternal care and mentorship 24/7 through her clinics and outreach programmes. • Sister Buhle Khumalo, who runs Mommy Bear Clinic, offers antenatal care, infant wellness services and health education in underserved communities. “AfroCentric’s investment in enterprise development programmes for black women and the youth is a deliberate and forward-looking strategy to transform the healthcare sector from the ground up,” says Fezeka Nompumza, Managing Executive for Clinical Risk and Advisory at MEDSCHEME HOLDINGS (an AfroCentric Group company) and ESD & SED Committee member. As we close our Women’s Month spotlight, we share and carry forward the impact of these stories. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is one of South Africa’s most urgent and devastating challenges. It affects women, children, men, LGBTQ+ individuals and entire communities - often in silence and without justice. AfroCentric Group is launching the ‘Colour Me Orange’ campaign, inspired by the United Nations's global movement to 'Orange the World', to raise awareness and advocate for a future free from violence. GBV thrives in silence, stigma and systemic failure but change begins when we speak up. This September, we encourage you to raise your voice, show support and stand with survivors. That is how you colour yourself orange. #ColourMeOrange: Speak. Support. Change #EndGBV #OrangeTheWorld #BreakTheSilence #AfrocentricGroup

Women’s well-being is a business imperative [READ] Sanlam Corporate's Benchmark research and DebtBusters’ latest Money Stress Tracker reveal a sobering reality; only 8% of female retirement fund members feel confident about retiring comfortably, while nearly three in four report financial stress - around 10% more than men. These financial pressures, coupled with rising breast cancer risks and the invisible toll of caregiving, form a complex web that compromises women’s ability to thrive at work, home and in society. At AfroCentric Group, we understand that health and wealth are inseparable. As part of the Sanlam family, we’re committed to supporting working women through integrated healthcare solutions that promote long-term financial and physical wellness.
