For 20 years, dedicated citizen scientists have been active in the "Butterfly Monitoring Germany" (TMD) project coordinated at UFZ to record the occurrence of butterflies. Since the start of butterfly monitoring, nearly 4.4 million butterflies have been counted. August 2025 will see the next CO-OP4CBD online workshop: “How to integrate traditional and indigenous knowledges in global environmental decision-making?” Its primary aim will be to identify how to mobilise and organise European knowledge support for the Convention on Biological Diversity (UN CBD) with traditional knowledge holders.
