Our CEO Markus Rauramo spoke in two sessions: 🎤 In a high-level dialogue with Kristian Ruby from Eurelectric and Anna-Kaisa Itkonen from the European Commission, the discussion focused on how Europe can secure clean, reliable energy while remaining globally competitive. The speakers highlighted how clean electrification is driving both competitiveness and climate ambition across Europe. 🎤 At a panel hosted by Energiateollisuus ry – Finnish Energy, Teknologiateollisuus - Technology Industries of Finland, Finnish Forest Industries Federation and Kemianteollisuus - Chemical Industry Federation of Finland, Markus emphasised the Nordic model of energy security—built on a balanced, fossil-free power mix and strong cooperation with authorities. At a panel discussion this morning, Finnish MEPs offered valuable perspectives on Europe’s role in a changing world. As a partner of the event, Fortum brought an energy angle to the conversation: how to position the Nordics as an attractive investment environment, leveraging the competitive electricity prices and a clean, well-functioning grid of the Nordics. The MEPs voiced strong support for: ✔️ Technology neutrality – ensuring all clean solutions, including nuclear, are part of the energy transition.  ✔️ Strengthening cross-border grid resilience and enabling electrification across Europe. We are proud to renew partnership with World Food Programme (WFP) to support vital food systems recovery in Myanmar post-earthquake. Ongoing needs for food assistance remain critical in the aftermath of the March 2025 earthquake, which left millions facing food insecurity. In 2024, we donated funds to WFP’s Immediate Response Account (IRA). When the earthquake hit Myanmar, IRA enabled WFP to deliver rapid assistance to 400,000 people. Months after the earthquake, many communities still depend on aid. Donations enable WFP to deliver food and nutrition, scale up cash-for-work programmes, and restore market access, helping pave the way for long-term recovery. Fortum reached a strong achieved power price, but low generation volumes and market prices weighed on the results for the second quarter of 2025. The decrease in hydro and nuclear power output was mainly due to modest spring floods resulting in reduced inflows, as well as the prolonged outage at the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant. These essential period of maintenances are critical to ensuring the safe and reliable operation of Loviisa nuclear power plant until 2050.
