“What makes Unified unique is the culture of collaboration and the belief that we will rise by lifting each other up. I’ve grown through shared wins, tough lessons, and being surrounded by people who genuinely care.” – Meredith Pegg As Meredith approaches her 11-year anniversary at Unified, her story is a powerful reflection of what’s possible when you're contributing to a mission you believe in and you're surrounded by people who bring out your best. From project manager to her current AVP role, her path has been shaped by curiosity, adaptability, and deep respect for the team she works with. “There’s not a single defining moment for me,” she says. “Each project pushes me to think differently, to build trust quickly, and to deliver outcomes that truly matter.” Above all, Meredith credits her team for her growth. “I am who I am because of my incredible team. Success is not a solo journey. We are all committed to learning, growing, and thriving together.” So, why has she chosen Unified for over a decade? “It’s truly because of the people I work with. To find an organization where you’re passionate about the mission and vision and also get to collaborate and learn from people who inspire you every day, that’s what keeps me going.” We celebrate Meredith's career and the meaningful impact she’s made for our organization, and for women, over the last 11 years!

Donated umbilical cord blood can help heal people diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma and certain immune system or genetic metabolic disorders. But in the U.S., most umbilical cords and placenta are still discarded as medical waste after delivery. Each July, we recognize National #CordBloodAwarenessMonth to spread the word about saving and storing cord blood, and its potential to save lives. Learn more about the need for cord blood donations: https://lnkd.in/eiNz24c3 #CordBloodBanking

Two Unified affiliate laboratories have implemented AI-guided digital cytology, which has improved quality and dramatically reduced the turnaround time of cervical cancer screening results. The technology uses state-of-the-art artificial intelligence software that significantly improves the detection of HSIL+. It also replaces the traditional microscope and captures high resolution photomicrographs of abnormal cells. Unified Regional Director of Lab Operations Brian Jones explains some of the value the system has brought below. The Florida Woman Care Laboratory was the first site in Florida, and the seventh in the U.S., to implement the system. Next, the UWH of the Carolinas Laboratory became the first lab in North Carolina to utilize the new technology. We are excited to see the digital system increasing laboratory capacity for Pap smear evaluation and enhancing the patient and clinician experience.

Five years ago, a personal tragedy became the catalyst for a mission-driven career change. After losing her beloved 49-year-old aunt to breast cancer, Victoria Hatin made a vow that no woman should go without access to convenient, compassionate breast care. That commitment led her to Unified Women’s Healthcare and now as Vice President, Growth and Business Development, Breast Imaging, she has helped open 65 in-office mammography locations nationwide, bringing screening directly into everyday healthcare settings. These centers make it easier, faster and more comfortable for women to get screened, because when access improves, so does survival. And the impact is clear. Last year, these in-office locations led to: ✅ 400 cancers being detected ✅ 75%+ of patients now receiving annual mammograms, allowing cancers to be caught earlier ✅ 80% of practices offering dense breast ultrasound, adding a critical layer of detection for women with dense breast tissue Through her work, Victoria has helped reshape how breast health is delivered, removing barriers and saving lives. Every center opened is more than a milestone; it’s a promise kept to her aunt, and to every woman who deserves the chance to live a full, healthy life.
