This is IBM Intranet "On Demand Community" article when I was selected IBM US "Volunteer of the month".

In 1996, Wake Forest University (a private,co-educational, liberal arts university in Winston-Salem, N.C.) was among the first to take the initiative to provide students with better access to personal computers to the next level, providing each student with a ThinkPad laptop. Continuing this initiative, all WFU undergraduates currently receive an IBM ThinkPad and color printer upon enrollment. The computers are upgraded after two years and become student property upon graduation. The residence halls and classrooms are networked, giving students wireless access to the Internet 24/7. In addition to these initiatives, Wake Forest is currently participating in a pilot program for mobile computing to test the efficiency and effectiveness of providing pocket PC phones to its college students. These mobile devices come with instant messaging, text messages and several custom-built software programs including speech recognition software provided by IBM. The pilot program concentrates on three functions: mobile messaging, mobile access to information, and control of the device.

Miami Children's Hospital, a world leader in pediatric health care, has a medical staff of more than 650 physicians and over 2,000 employees. The hospital specializes in all aspects of pediatric medical care from birth through adolescence. Although the hospital draws children with very specific needs from all over the world, it is also the only licensed specialty hospital exclusively for children in South Florida.

At one time, IBM was significant player in the global speech recognition and text-to-speech marketplace. This page contains some of the customers that used IBM speech technology.

This is General Motors press release which documents IBM's speech technology was key technology component of OnStar.

Five years prior to the introduction of the iPod and iTunes in the US, IBM in conjunction with the then 5 major music labels had a full end-to-end ecosystem for the secure preparation, delivery, and sale of digital music that was live and in production in Japan. That system was based on the IBM Electronic Media Management System (EMMS).

I was recognized as subject matter expert, representing Travel Industry Solution Unit, in IBM 1997 Annual Report which was released in 1998.

This is video of Elena Suarez and myself that appeared on IBM TV on June 9, 1992. IBM TV was in place at IBM prior to general use of the internet and corporate intranets. The video was done at a point in IBM's history prior to IBM migrating from a primarily hardware company to a primarily services/software company of today.

This video was also made prior to the IBM acquisition of Lotus and when Wang was still in business (Wang has since gone out of business).
