Case Study: Sustainable Energy Empowers Green Construction in Germany

Background:

A professional landscaping and construction company in Germany offers a wide range of services, including gardening and landscaping, sewer construction, road and civil engineering. As part of its vision to build a green world, the company sought a solution to improve solar system self-consumption and use renewable energy power to support on-site loads, minimizing grid inputs.

Challenge:

To meet the energy demands of critical loads and prepare for fleet electrification, the company needed a solution to:

  • Enable fast and scalable EV charging without relying on major grid upgrades
  • Lower electricity bills through maximizing solar self-consumption
  • Reduce peak loads and avoid high demand charges

They need a solution to enable quick deployment of scalable solutions without waiting for costly infrastructure upgrades, while minimizing the strain on existing power systems.

Solution:

POWEROAD provided a comprehensive energy storage solution integrated with an advanced energy management system (EMS) to meet operational needs, optimize power usage, and enhance sustainability. The main applications of this solution included:

Peak Shaving: POWEROAD deployed two high-performance FLEX 215 Air Cooling Outdoor Cabinets ESS, delivering a total capacity of 430 kWh. The system stores surplus energy from on-site solar panels and supports EV charging and other loads during periods of limited grid availability or high demand.

Solar Self-Consumption: A PV system generates clean energy on-site. This renewable power is either used directly for critical operations or stored in the battery system for later use, significantly increasing energy self-sufficiency and reducing dependence on the grid.

Project Value:

By combining solar power, POWEROAD battery energy storage system, and intelligent energy management, the company has built a future-proof energy solution that supports critical operations, fleet electrification, and long-term sustainability.

Battery storage is essential for bridging power availability gaps and enabling fast, reliable EV charging in areas with limited grid capacity. The integrated solar-storage-charging system offers end users the following benefits:

Management of fast chargers: Ensures a stable power supply for high-power EV charging infrastructure.

Maximized solar self-consumption: Stores excess PV energy for use during non-generation hours.

Increased grid independence: Reduces reliance on external power supply and enhances energy resilience.
