Reflecting back on the summer of 2025, I'm honored to have driven an initiative representing a significant milestone for the analytics profession—and for the people driving it forward. This summer, our team at INFORMS launched the CAP-Essentials (CAP-E) certification. It fills a gap we heard about again and again—from educators, hiring managers, analytics leaders, and practitioners across industries: The need for a credential that validates strategic thinking, not just technical skills, at the start of someone’s analytics career.
