Bob Definition of a THESIS STATEMENT: a short statement, usually one sentence, that summarizes the main point or claim of an essay, research paper, etc., and is developed, supported, and explained in the text by means of examples and evidence. But you all cringe at the term so let’s just rename it and call it… Bob. Just make sure we can see Bob in all of your essays…
- 5. How do we create Bob? What is the main point of your essay? What do you want to say in your essay? Don’t tell me what you are going to write about, just write it! Pick out what you want to compare and contrast about the two myths (creationism and scientific) and state them.
- 6. Prompt What would you like to compare and contrast between the Creation myth of your chosen tribe/religion/nationality/culture and the Scientific facts of the Big Bang Theory? How are you going to compare and contrast them? Venn diagram anybody??
- 7. Okay, back to Bob. Try this: To help you come up with a thesis: Imagine a reporter on TV is going to do a report on your paper. She wants to compare and contrast two ideas in two sentences. That is your thesis. (yes, it can be more than one sentence)
