ANALYSIS OF ANOTHER GROUPS
MUSIC VIDEO
Paramore- Ain’t it Fun By Steph, Isla, Louise and
Hannah
Their Music Video…
What’s good about this Music Video?
• This group used a wide range of locations, they made sure they didn’t use the same shot twice, which
meant it never got boring to watch because in each shot there was something new.
• Their lip-syncing matches the lyrics of the song.
• The editing of the music video went well to the pace and beat of the song making it look smooth.
• I thought they chose a good song to do their music video to. The reason being is because it is a song that
no one really knows and is different from he typical pop song people would have chosen.
• The music video was in no way repetitive.
• Costumes are very original and casual, nothing to extravagant or revealing.
• I also liked the way they used different paces meaning how they sped up particular parts of the video.
• I thought the idea of starting the music video of three girls in a lesson and then having the rest of the
music video almost like imagination of what they’d rather being doing then ending the music video how it
started on the three girls in lesson, was very creative.
Is there anything that could be improved?
Personally I don’t think there is anything that this group could have done better or improved on I think this is a
really strong music video that has been put together very well. They’ve got loads of different shots, good
locations, appropriate costumes and a good story to the music video.
How well did they use Mise En Scene,
Cinematography and Editing?
Mise en Scene:
In terms of Mise en scene they had appropriate costumes for the music video, they had a variety of different
locations, they made a really good effort performing in the video themselves and had a story that went with the
lyrics of the song.
Cinematography:
They used a variety of different shots and camera angles. One i noticed in particular was when they used of
pan shot going from right to left showing some of the landmarks of London.
Editing:
The editing was very smooth and goes the pace of the song and the
beat of the music.
What can we learn from this Music Video that we
can apply to our own Music Video?
• We must make sure we use some interesting locations and not ones that are most likely to be used in other
groups music videos.
• We have already chosen a song that no has really heard before, by doing this we won’t get so bored of the
song as its fairly new to us and its not what people would expect.
• Keep the costumes as simple as possible and don’t wear anything to excessive.
• Use a variety of different camera shots and angles.
• When we come to edit our music video we shall make sure it fits to the beat of the music in order to make the
editing look smooth.
• Work as group, plan days go out together so you can film some stuff, as well as filming your own shots that
can be added as an extra shot in the music video.
• Practise lip-syncing so that when it comes to filming it looks synchronised.
• Whoever is going to be featured in the music video, don’t be afraid to go for it, don’t hold back when
performing because otherwise it won’t look good.
