General Description The Front End Web Application Software Developer role is required to provide highly useable and efficient business solutions for the Company’s template products and customer configured systems which are suitable for customer on premise and hosted solutions, are accessible through multiple devices (built on the Bootstrap framework), utilise the latest web technologies and can be extended through additional modules. This is a hands-on developer role as well as a design role and includes the use of the Company’s Toolkit and industry standard tools such as Bootstrap to create the system. Key Responsibilities 1. Design and build (and test) efficient business web applications that meet the requirements of the Company’s template products and customer configurations including using the Company Product’s Toolkit and industry standard tools where appropriate 2. Design and write efficient, reusable code using standard coding practices and methodologies 3. Investigate and introduce new tools, methods and 3rd party controls to help deliver the most effective web solution 4. Write HTML / CSS / JavaScript/JQuery functions to develop visually stunning, user-driven websites, web applications, widgets and portals 5. Connect to third-party platforms using various APIs 6. Proactively perform cross-browser testing and optimizations 7. Build and design fully responsive portal applications that achieve clients’ goals Knowledge and Skills Essential: Minimum 3 years commercial experience in a similar role Expert understanding of the latest and legacy browser capabilities, including mobile Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3 Proficient understanding of Bootstrap (or similar framework) Creating web applications with high UI/UX Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX Understanding application release management processes Modular database/system design (or knowledge of and experience of working with modular CMS/CRM applications) Understanding software build processes Working to development standards and disciplines (including commenting code, formatting code, splitting into functions) Customer focused Desirable: UI/UX Design experience API design and creation Operating systems knowledge Active Directory administration knowledge Setting up and managing hosted solutions (especially on the Microsoft Azure environment) SQL query and administration knowledge/experience Understanding of ASP.NET
