UCL has over 4,800 staff and postdocs and 4,500 research students who produce around 15,000 publications per year. UCL aims to make all research outputs openly accessible through its institutional repository, UCL Discovery, which has over 20,000 full-text items and receives 6 million downloads annually. UCL's Open Access team in the library works to communicate open access policies and requirements to researchers across the university's schools and faculties, using various communication methods and activities. They face challenges in getting researchers to deposit the right versions of their work in a timely manner and creating complete metadata records for all outputs.
