Class I malocclusions involve anomalies where the anteroposterior relationship is within normal limits. They are usually due to tooth/arch size discrepancies leading to crowding or spacing. Crowding occurs in about 60% of cases and can be relieved by extractions or expansion. Spacing can be difficult to close completely and may require bridges. Displaced teeth are usually caused by lack of space and may require extraction. Bimaxillary proclination affects both arches and is treated by retracting both upper and lower incisors.
