Class 11 division 2 malocclusion is characterized by the upper central incisors occluding posterior to the lower incisor edges. It has a prevalence of 10% in Caucasians. Etiology includes a mild class 2 skeletal pattern with the lower lip line high relative to the upper incisors. Soft tissue factors like active muscular lips can also lead to retroclination of the upper incisors. Treatment depends on the severity of the skeletal discrepancy and overbite, ranging from non-extraction to growth modification or orthognathic surgery. Stability of overbite correction and upper incisor alignment require retention.
