INTRODUCTION
1. To develop a Bluetooth based home automation
system with
Arduino-UNO Board and an Android application.
2. Remote controlled home automation system
provides a simpler
solution with Android application technology.
3. Remote operation is achieved by any smart
phone/Tablet etc.,
with Android OS, upon a GUI(Graphical User
Interface) based
touch screen operation

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
•Arduino UNO
•Bluetooth Module -HC-05
•12V Relay
•Power Supply 230v,50Hz
•Switch board
ARDUINO UNO
•The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller board based on the
ATmega328P.
• It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used
as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz quartz
crystal, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header
and a reset button.
• Simply connect it to a Computer with a USB cable or
power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started

•OPERATING VOLTAGE : 5V
•DIGITAL I/O PINS : 14
•PWM DIGITAL I/O PINS : 6

•CLOCK SPEED : 16MHZ
ARDUINO
BLUETOOTH MODULE
Bluetooth Technology is standard for short-range radio
communication.
It is a low cost bi-directional (2 ways) wireless interface
between mobile devices that provides low power
consumption.
Bluetooth Transceiver referring to Bluetooth Transmitter
and Receiver and every Bluetooth node have Bluetooth
Transceiver.
The aim is to eliminate the usage of cables. Bluetooth
system operates in worldwide unlicensed 2.4GHz
Industrial-Scientific-Medical (ISM) frequency band.
Bluetooth Receiver
RELAY
•Relay is basically an electromagnetic switch which
can be turn ON and OFF by applying the voltage
across its contacts.
•In this project we used a 12V 5 pin relay
RELAY
• The relay takes advantage of the fact that when electricity
flows through a coil, it becomes an electromagnet.
• The electromagnetic coil attracts a steel plate, which is
attached to a switch.
• So the switch's motion (ON and OFF) is controlled by the
current flowing to the coil, or not, respectively.
ELECTRICAL WIRE AND JUMPER WIRES
Electrical wire is used in the AC power supply and Jumper wire in
the DC power Supply.

POWER SUPPLY
• A device or system that supplies electrical or other types
of energy to an output load or group of loads is called a
power supply unit or PSU.
• Here in our application we need a 9v DC power supply for
all electronics involved in the project.
• This requires step down transformer, rectifier, voltage
regulator, and filter circuit for generation of 9v DC power.
• We are using an adaptor here for the power supply
ADVANTAGES
• It is a robust and easy to use system.
• It will save your energy and money.
• Provides Security.
• Convenience and comfort.
• Can be used by physically challenged and disabled
people.
• Complexity is less as only a single mobile is used
multiple devices.
• Smart home technology.
DISADVANTAGES
• Only works for limited range or short distance with in
5-10m surroundings.
• No feedback path.
• Number of appliances which can be controlled through
this circuit are limited.
• Circuit complexity increases as number of devices
increase
PROBLEM FACED DURING THE PROJECT
• Problem associated with power supply. We used a step
down transformer of 6v but the Arduino was not working
properly and also the voltage regulator was not working
properly. We overcome that problem by using adapter
here
• The programming was not easy to compile.
• Little problem in wiring of the loads
FUTURE WORK
•This setup can further be developed into IOT
project by using Ethernet arduino and a wifi
module.
•So , it can be controlled from anywhere
around the globe having feedback from the
devices to further improve the energy savings.
