Editor's Notes

  • #3: Focus Area 1 is about creating global learners in the classroom with the assistance from 21 st century technology tools in order to prepare students for the future. With the new partnership with North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, a selected group of students from each grade will be able to receive instruction online from a professor from the school. These students will have a classroom made available to them with access to mac books where they can take their online class. All teachers across the school will have access to 3 mac book carts that are available on a daily basis through flexible scheduling. With these laptops, students will have the ability to skype and make connections with other students, classes, community members and professionals from around the city, state, country or world. Resources and training will be provided to teachers on websites such as Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration, ePals and Skype.
