This document outlines a design project to create adequate safe space for elementary school students to play during recess. It discusses the need for play space due to its benefits for student focus and learning. The project process will involve defining adequate safe space, determining what activities students will do, and how they will design a space that meets criteria while allowing for testing and improvement. The project aligns with NGSS standards around defining problems and designing solutions, as well as 21st century skills of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
