~ How to dress for a job interview ~ What to Wear
Pre-Test True or False When arriving at an interview you should be sure to be wearing your cell phone ear piece incase you get an important call. It is important to smell nice for an interview by putting on some extra perfume or cologne It is beneficial to research a companies dress code and use it as a guideline on what to wear to the interview Tattoos are ok to flaunt at an interview, especially if it is a neat one!
First Impressions “ You’ll never get a second chance to make a first impression” Employers start judging you before you can even say hello.  They judge you based on how you look and what you are wearing.  So if you really want the job do your homework!
What do Others Wear? If the job you are applying for doesn’t require a uniform or very casual dress code try to find out what others in the company wear.  If the job you are applying for  does  require a uniform or very casual dress code, be sure to  ignore this   for the interview and dress to impress
Starting at the Top Wash, dry and brush your hair Remove all hats or headgear of any sort  This includes headphones or bluetooths Apply minimal make-up Brush your teeth
What to Wear Men : Suit (solid color – navy or grey) Long Sleeve button up shirt Tie Belt Dark Socks Little or no jewelry Little or no cologne Clean shaven
What to Wear Women : Business suit Coordinating blouse and pants Conservative shoes Little jewelry Little or no perfume Professional hairstyle
Things to Avoid Showing mid-drift Showing tattoos Stained clothes Ripped or tattered clothes Clothes that are too small or too large Words on clothing Skirts or shirts that reveal too much
What to Leave Home Coffee Cell Phone Ipod Gum Large amounts of jewelry (one or two rings, one earring each ear) Food
In Conclusion When headed to a job interview: Be sure to dress for success Don’t wear to much perfume or cologne Make sure to be well groomed Leave unnecessary items at home Avoid showing skin or tattoos
Post – Test On a piece of paper, answer the following in complete sentences: What types of things are okay to wear on your head during an interview? Why shouldn’t you show off any tattoos at an interview? What might happen if you wear to much perfume or cologne to an interview? How much jewelry is appropriate for an interview?
HOMEWORK Using either list format or paragraph format describe wear to an interview to be a loan officer at the Town Credit Union.  Be sure to describe yourself from head to toe and include as much detail as possible.
