The document summarizes the European Location Framework (E.L.F.), which aims to bring together harmonized geospatial reference data across Europe. The E.L.F. will provide authoritative, interoperable cross-border geospatial reference data to support analysis and understanding of place-based information. It will offer data from the global to local levels, including basemaps, administrative boundaries, cadastral information and other themes. The E.L.F. is being developed by EuroGeographics and will draw on expertise from national mapping agencies, industry and academia to create a technical infrastructure delivering location reference data.
