This document outlines an introduction to environmental studies course. It includes the course assessment scheme which consists of group presentations, exams, and a documentary video project. The learning outcomes are also listed, which are for students to understand environmental issues, sustainability, conservation practices, and present findings. Recent global environmental crises mentioned are the Australian bushfires, Amazon forest fires, Indonesian tsunami, and floods/cyclones in Asia. The reasons for studying the environment are to predict the future, improve the world, and see issues through different lenses. Environmental studies is a multidisciplinary field involving areas like geology, biology, chemistry, agriculture, and more.
