- 3. The Five Selected Films Zombie Land World War Z 28 Days Later Resident Evil Dawn Of The Dead
- 4. Conventions Of The Example Films • A slow start to the film either showing how the virus spread across the world of how the character is introduced to the virus. (28 Days Later) • The last few survivors are told through radio transmission or any way that there is a safe heaven and the road leading the destination will be hard and yet the safe heaven could have fallen. • Heavy makeup used on the zombies such as fake blood, cracking skin, scars, decaying teeth and blood shot eyes. • Lots of blood and gore in the films as the zombies are being killed in many ways using weapons that they have almost created or have upgraded with separate parts Eg ; Nails, blades, Fire (Resident Evil, coin shotgun) • A small tight group of protagonists wanting to survive and some wanting to avoid killing Zombies or heavy detail into one main character. • Intense non diegetic score music to portray something is about to happen or to build suspense.

What Will Happen In My OTS • Set further back in time (2000) just after New Years the outbreak happens. • Establishing shot of derelict location slowly zooming into the main character locked inside a shed with the infected surrounding him breaking in.(Voice over from the main character telling us how long its been since the infection spread and how he got into this situation) • Sharp changes to the detail n his story, him and his school mates in a lesson joking around. Then to those very same friends covered in blood dead on the floor. • Then it flashes again to another memory of him bumping into two survivors that he used to be in class with and they decide to become a group. Then flashes back to him in the shed zombies roars around him loud bangs, then he looks inside his bag to find an MP3 player out of his bag ( Short cut to his girlfriend giving him it for his birthday and them listening to it together ) • Next the main character turns the MP3 player on plugs in his headphones and plays the song that him and his girlfriend used to listen to, he stands up puts his bag on, checks his ammunition in his gun realising there's only 3 bullets left and then as he is about to open the door he his gun shots, men shouting at the infected, the the noise of the zombies dampens and the its fades into a black screen.

Am I Meeting The Conventions • Yes I am meeting the conventions as I will be using a good amount of blood on the zombies when I do a close up on some of the faces. • I am having heavy detail in one main character and building the story around him. • There is a slow establishing shot in the beginning to show the location and setting of the OTS.
- 7. My Narrative Enigma • My narrative enigma is around the main character, how he has got to where he is now, the journey he has taken. • Also it is what will happen to this character, and how will he survive the infection.
- 8. Targets To Make My OTS Effective • I want a clean finish steady camera and a good range of angles and shots that are effective in building up emotion and a tense feel to the scene. • Good transitions between the flashbacks and the main story to have a clear difference to help the audience understand. • A good location. • Good fake blood and scars/ cuts on the main character to add a real effect to the OTS otherwise it will look comical.
