- 2. Objectives: 1. List hand tools and equipment based on job requirement; 2. Identify appropriate hand tools and equipment; and 3. Classify hand tools and equipment according to function and task requirement.
- 3. WORD SEARCH Direction: There are twelve (12) different drafting materials and tools and drawing instruments that can be found in the puzzle. Identify at least ten (10) of them.
- 4. Drafting is the act and discipline of composing drawings that visually communicate how something functions or is constructed. Similar with drawing / sketch, it has several things to be used. Drafting tools, materials, and equipment are the best friends of the architects. In this lesson, we will tackle the different kinds of drafting materials and their proper maintenance. Well, some of them are commonly used and are familiar already.
- 5. DRAFTING MATERIALS/ TOOLS/ EQUIPMENTS AND THEIR USES/FUNCTIONS
- 6. 1. Masking Tape - used for fastening the drawing the drawing paper on table or drawing board.
- 7. 2. Drawing Paper - commonly used in drawing such as olso or typewriting.
- 8. 3. Sharpener - used for sharpening pencils whenever they show sign of dullness.
- 9. 4. Eraser - used to clean the dirt off the drawing.
- 10. 5. Pencils - the most important tool in mechanical drawing.
- 11. 6.Triangular Scales- used when reproducing a drawing in an enlarged or reduced form to some regular proportion.
- 12. 7.Erasing Shield - used to protect the rest of the drawing when clearing up smudges, unnecessary pencil lines and other erasures.
- 13. 8.T-Square - a drawing instrument used when making horizontal lines and also used for guiding triangles when drawing vertical lines.
- 14. 9.Triangles - It is a three-sided ruler, which typically has two equal sides meeting at a 90 degree angle and to a third side at 45, 30, including 60 degree angles.
- 15. 10. Compass - drawing instrument is used when drawing arcs and circles.
- 16. 11. Divider - drawing instrument used when transferring measurements, dividing lines and arcs into the desired number of equal parts.
- 17. 12. Protractor - gradations of used to determine the degrees when measuring arcs, angles and circles.
- 18. 13. Ruler - most popular type of measuring tool that is usually 6 or 12 inches in length and used for drawing straight lines.
- 19. 14.French curve - used to connect endpoints of straight lines to form an arc.
- 20. 15.Drafting Table and Stand - a special table with a slanted surface that can be adjusted based on the desired angle.
