The Impact of Project Based
        Learning

        PRESENTED BY:
        RUBY JERNIGAN
Introduction

During this presentation on Project Based Learning, I will
explore what Project Based Learning and Project Based
Multi-Media Learning is and the benefits of including this
type of learning in the classroom.
What is Project Based Learning?

 Project Based Learning is an instructional approach
built upon authentic learning activities that engage
student interest and motivation. These activities are
designed to answer a question or solve a problem
and generally reflect the types of learning and work
people do in the everyday world outside the
 classroom.
 “A project based learning method is a comprehensive
approach to instruction. The students are able to
engage in projects across the curriculum.
 “Project Based Learning allows teachers to create
tasks whose complexity and openness mimic
  problems in the real world.”

 When students engage in project based learning, they are
learning skills that will prepare them for the real world.
 It is very important that your students are allowed to
explore various options during their learning
process. Doing this will cause them to be actively
 engaged and stay on task.
Project Based Learning in Action

 “Teaching with project based methods enables
students to work cooperatively with peers and
mentors in a student-centered environment where
learners are encouraged to explore various topics of
 interest.”
 Project Based Learning helps students learn how to
problem solve which introduces them to real world
connections and skills that they will need to know.
 “Assisting learners in developing all of their intelligences
will make learning a part of living, not just a preparation for
  it.”

 When students are encouraged to access all of their many
talents, they will empower them to be more confident in life
  and become productive citizens.
 “Students who are allowed to define their own
learning goals will be more engaged in learning.”

 I think that when students are able to „have a say‟ or take part in the
process of their role and responsibilities in a project, they will be more
apt to make it successful and learn while having fun doing it.
What is Project Based Multi-Media Learning?

 --A method of teaching in which statements acquire
new knowledge and skills in the course of designing,
planning, and producing a multimedia product.
Examples of Multi-Media Technology Based
                Presentations

 Computerized Slide Show
 Web sites
 Videos

 These presentations given by the students will be
evidence that they have mastered the skills and
completed the objectives expected of them.
The 7 Key Dimensions in Project Based Multi-
              Media Learning

 Core Curriculum
 Real-World Connection
 Extending Time Frame
 Student Decision Making
 Collaboration
 Assessment
 Multimedia
Conclusion

Project Based Learning is not a new process, however, teachers are now using
this more in the classrooms as they should. The purpose is to engage students
in their education through technology, decision making, collaboration and
thinking skills.
