• Correct counting = Count every thing only once
• No object gets counted more than one time

Do we always count from 1?
• When we begin counting, we always start from 1
• Let us say we are given some smiley to count
• We count them starting at 1
• Let us say we counted 5 smiley in all
• What if the teacher gives us some more smiley to
count?
• To count new objects, we don’t start from 1
• We start after the last number we counted
• There were 5 smileys earlier
• So, now we start from 6 onwards...

● Let us count how many students have first name starting with alphabet
‘A’
● All students with name that begins with ‘A’, stand up
● Now let us count them one by one
● After we count a student, the student can sit down
● What is the final count?
● There are students whose name begins with ‘A’
