- #6: Empecemos a explicar qué es la nube, cuando hablamos de cloudcomputing en realidad podemos estar hablando de tres cosas diferentes a tres niveles diferentes.Vamos empezar a explicar qué es el cloud desde lo que ya estamos usando, la punta del iceberg, que son las aplicaciones en el cloud
- #7: Hace ya muchos años que estamos utilizando aplicaciones en la nube, así funciona por ejemplo Hotmail: tú configuras una cuenta de correo y desde el primer momento puedes enviar y recibir correos sin instalarte ninguna aplicación, desde cualquier parte y sin saber dónde están los correos físicamente. No te importa la infraestructura o si está en un servidor o repartido en cientos de ellos. Están en la nube y no nos importa dónde estén, pues siempre tenemos acceso a ellos. Como las aplicaciones corrientes, pueden ser de pago o gratuitas, pero en este caso no las tenemos no las instalamos en nuestro ordenador. Entonces dónde están? (click)
- #8: Vamos a centrarnos ahora en la base de la pirámide, en la infraestructura, que es donde se construye todo.Esta es la capa donde se realiza el alojamiento, así que vamos a hablar de alojamiento en la nube, que es un concepto realmente antiguo, pero que está empezando a trabajar realmente bien hoy en día gracias a los avances tecnológicos.
- #9: Imaginemos que tenemos una empresa, hoy en día cualquier empresa necesita usar aplicaciones, normalmente caras tanto en precio como en costes de infraestructura y mantenimiento.Cómo funciona? Tu compras servidores, luego tu empresa crece y compras más servidores y más y más…y a todos esos servidores les tienes que instalar las aplicaciones para tu personal y todo eso lo tiene que manejar un equipo de infraestructura cada vez más grande…. Y que te cuesta mucho dinero sólo para mantenerlo en funcionamiento, los sistemas se vuelven muy complejos, necesitas alta disponibilidad y replicar los servidores por si se estropea uno, etc… y todo esto para una sola aplicación….Además, aunque no lo utilices vas a seguir pagando por tus servidores, pues hay que amortizarlos, pagar la electricidad, el local, el aire acondicionado etc…
- #10: Pero ahora tenemos una mejor alternativa a tener que comprar y mantener el hardware, es el Cloud computing.Lo que ofrece la infraestructura en la nube es que el datacenter de la empresa esté en un datacenter compartido y gestionado por otros, de manera que no nos tengamos que preocupar por gestionar la infraestructura.

En la modalidad de infraestructura nos despreocupabamos del hardware, pero aún teníamos que instalar un sistema operativo y mantener el ordenador, aunque fuera virtual en la nube.En la modalidad de plataforma el sistema operativo ya está instalado y el mantenimento ya lo hace el proveedor. Nuestra empresa sólo tiene que poner su aplicación.
