Discipline Training that is expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior. Training that produces moral or mental improvement. Controlled behavior resulting from disciplinary training A systematic method to obtain obedience A state of order based upon submission to rules and authority

She knows they tend to eat and chat for a long time. She wants to finish her work on time, she ought to eat a quick lunch and come back to the office. Yet she is very tempted to say yes as she wants to find out the latest office gossip.
Case 2 Raof had agreed to go to his grandmother's birthday celebration on Sunday but when he gets an assignment that he must submit on Monday, he has second thought and thinks of staying at home to do his assignment.
Case 3 Self: Abdul has decided to come punctually for class and has succeeded for 4 days but on Friday when the alarm clock sounds, he feels tempted to sleep another 10 minutes. He thinks, "It's Friday and I stayed up late working on my assignment. Besides, my other classmates don't all come on time anyway."
Self Discipline Self-discipline is the ability to get yourself to take action regardless of your emotional state. Ability to control yourself. Self-discipline means that you have to be very determined to achieve the goals you have set.
SELF-DISCIPLINE Saying “no” to things that will keep you from reaching your goals and saying “yes” to things that will enable you to reach your objectives. To be a self-disciplined person, you have to be able to control your feelings and desires and also behave with responsibility without orders. Pushing yourself to improve.
Analogy Self-discipline is like a muscle. The more you train it, the stronger you become. The less you train it, the weaker you become.
Is not negative restraint but rather positive life management. It brings selfish desires under control in order to achieve a greater end. To work hard; to control your emotions, actions and impulses; and, to give your best in every situation. The loss of self-control can lead to violent or self-destructive behaviors
Foundation of Self-Discipline The foundation of self-discipline is the ability to control one’s thoughts, actions, attitudes, and feelings. What is will power? It is the inner strength to make a decision, take action, and handle and execute any aim or task until it is accomplished, regardless of inner and outer resistance, discomfort or difficulties. It bestows the ability to overcomes laziness, temptations and negative habits, and to carry out actions, even if they require effort, are unpleasant and tedious or are contrary to one's habits
Manifestation of Self Discipline It manifests as the ability to stick to actions, thoughts and behavior, which lead to improvement and success. Self-discipline is self-control, and it manifests in spiritual, mental, emotional and physical discipline.
How Self Discipline will help you out? Self discipline will: Boost your self-esteem Help you to accomplish your goals Gives you the ability to change your life any way you like Help you to be more decisive Help you develop inner strength It is required for doing a good job, for studying, building a business, losing weight, bodybuilding and physical exercises, maintaining good relationships, changing habits, self improvement, meditation, spiritual growth, keeping and carrying out promises and for almost everything else.
Self-discipline is not: Self-discipline is not living a limiting or a restrictive lifestyle. It does not mean being narrow minded or living like a bagger. It is one of the pillars of success and power. It bestows the inner strength to focus all your energy on your goal, and persevere until it is accomplished.
Why people lack Self Discipline? A common personality Characteristic is a desire for immediate short term gratification, this means that rather waiting for some thing happen in future most people prefer to have or experience something right now without waiting
The Five Pillars of Self-Discipline Acceptance, Willpower, Hard Work, Industry, and Persistence.
Acceptance Acceptance means that you perceive reality accurately and consciously acknowledge what you perceive.
Willpower What is will power? It is the inner strength to make a decision, take action, and handle and execute any aim or task until it is accomplished, regardless of inner and outer resistance, discomfort or difficulties. It bestows the ability to overcomes laziness, temptations and negative habits, and to carry out actions, even if they require effort, are unpleasant and tedious or are contrary to one's habits
Hard work Hard work is that which challenges you. Being healthy is hard work. Finding and maintaining a successful relationship is hard work. Raising kids is hard work. Getting organized is hard work. Setting goals, making plans to achieve them, and staying on track is hard work.
Industry Industry is working hard but on time. “ In contrast to hard work, being industrious doesn’t necessarily mean doing work that’s challenging or difficult. It simply means putting in the time. You can be industrious doing easy work or hard work.”
Persistence Persistence is the ability to maintain action regardless of your feelings. When you work on any big goal, your motivation will wax and wane like waves hitting the shore. Sometimes you’ll feel motivated; sometimes you won’t. But it’s not your motivation that will produce results — it’s your action. Persistence allows you to keep taking action even when you don’t feel motivated to do so, and therefore you keep accumulating results.
Self-Discipline Example I show self-discipline when I finish my chores before playing. I show Self-Discipline when I accept that things do not always go my way.
The Five Principles of Self-Discipline 1) It is easier to face difficult tasks than it is to avoid them. 2) It is more important to do than to do well. 3) Divide large tasks into smaller ones. 4) Analyze what you did correctly and what you did incorrectly. 5) Reward yourself for what you did right and penalize yourself for what you did wrong.
8 ways to develop Self Discipline Take responsibility. Realise the fact effort is needed to achieve any task. Nothing done means nothing achieved. 2. Acknowledge that you will tend to resist change. Expect to heat the silent whisper of procrastination and laziness. Persist to accomplish your task anyway. 3. Visualize completing the task. 4. Act. Just do it. 5. Remember your accomplishment. Keep a journal of all your successes and read it often. The more joy you get in finishing projects or task the more you will be motivated in your next endeavor.
6. Change your focus. Do not focus on the effort but focus on the pleasure you get finishing something that you started. 7. Be firm. Remember that the world will be easy on those who are hard on themselves. 8. Seek to do things that you avoid. This keeps you nimble and develops the habit of doing what is good rather than what feels good. Successful people are people who have the self discipline to do things that others avoid.
